I was lucky enough, in my student
years, to belong to one such group.
Boys and girls met in large groups of
thirty or forty and had the most
wonderful time. A large portion of
our free time was spent with music.
Out of the enthusiasm of those hours
blossomed beautiful settings of the mel-
odies we brought home from our hikes
through the mountains, for two, three,
four, and five parts, a cappella and
with the accompaniment of instruments.

学生時代の事ですが、私は運がよくて、
そういう団体に所属していました．３０人か
４０人ぐらいの大きなグループの中で、男子
と女子が出会い、とても素晴らしい時を楽し
く過ごしました．自由時間の大部分は音楽に
費やされました． 自由時間の中の熱心さか
ら、私たちが山道をたどり、持ち帰った数々
の素晴らしいメロディーが編曲されて、花が
開きました．あるものは２部、またあるもの
は３部、４部、５部合唱に、無伴奏の歌も楽
器伴奏のものもありました．
