　Advent had come again, the most
beautiful Advent of all ; that life of
real expectation. When the long
evenings set in and we met around
the fireplace, there was the same
atmosphere, which can only be char-
acterised by that untranslatable word,
“gemütlich”. There was something
new, which one could feel but not
put into words. That mood of
cheerful anticipation had taken hold of
the whole family.

　また降臨節がやって来ました．これまで
の中で最も素晴らしい降臨節；キリストの
本当の寿命なのです．長い夜が始まると、
私たちは暖炉の周りに集まりました．「気持
ちの良い」という翻訳不能な言葉でしか特
徴づけられないいつもの同じ雰囲気があり
ました．何か新しい空気が漂っていました．
それは言葉にはできないのですが、何か感
じるものがありました．家族全体の心を掴
んだ陽気な期待ムードがあったのです．
