田植え前夜
代掻きも終え準備が整った田んぼ↑（2020年4月28日、志木市、埼玉県）水を入れたばかりの田んぼ↑（2020年4月29日、うらわ市、埼玉県）田んぼの耕耘作業をしているなと思っていたら、もう田植えの季節です。あちこちの田んぼに水が入りだしました。来週あたりには、田植えが始まりそうです。Now it’s time to prepare rice fields for planting. 今朝の富士山
見沼代用水東縁からの富士山↑（2020年4月19日、さいたま市、埼玉県）武蔵野線と富士山↑（2020年4月19日、川口市、埼玉県）今朝も富士山が真白です。芝川の東側にある見沼代用水東縁に沿って自転車に乗ってきました。武蔵野線沿い（東浦和―東川口間）からも富士山がよく見えました。【Bon appétit !】 In English, the mountain is known as Mount Fuji. Some sources refer to it as "Fuji-san", "Fujiyama" or, redundantly（くどく、冗長に）, "Mt. Fujiyama". Japanese speakers refer to the mountain as "Fuji-san". 白くなった富士山
富士山↑（2020年4月14日、さいたま市）秩父方面の山↑（2020年4月14日、さいたま市）今朝の富士山は、一段と真っ白な姿になっていました。昨夜は雪が降ったのかもしれません。秩父の山々も雪化粧が戻ってきました。真っ白な富士を眺めて飽きもせずMt. Fuji has turned white because of fresh snow. 【Bon appétit !】 The origin of the name Fuji is unclear, having no recording of it being first called by this name. A text of the 9th century, Tale of the Bamboo Cutter, says that the name came from "immortal" (不死, fushi, fuji) and also from the image of abundant (富, fu) soldiers (士, shi, ji) ascending the slopes of the mountain. An early folk etymology claims that Fuji came from 不二 (not + two), meaning without equal or nonpareil. 見沼代用水東縁で見た花
葉桜に向かうソメイヨシノ↑（2020年4月7日、さいたま市、埼玉県）たくさんの花↑（2020年4月7日、さいたま市、埼玉県）朝食前に、芝川から閘門式運河である見沼通船堀を通って見沼代用水東縁を自転車で走ってきました。ソメイヨシノは、だいぶ散っていましたが、チューリップや菜の花、名前の分からない花など、様々な花がさいています。ほとんど人と会うことはなく、静かな自転車乗りを楽しむことができました。The flowers are in full bloom along the Minuma-daiyousui, while cherry blossoms are falling like a snowstorm.【Bon appétit !】 The Minuma Tsusenbori is a lock gate canal connecting the Minuma-daiyosui and the Shibakawa River. It was built in 1731. Since the Shibakawa River flows three meters below the two Minuma-daiyosui, people were not able to sail up the difference in water levels. チューリップのお花畑 荒川河川敷
芝川水門付近から見た川口の街↑（2020年4月5日、川口市、埼玉県）チューリップの花壇↑（2020年4月5日、川口市、埼玉県） 見沼田んぼの中央を流れる芝川が荒川に流れ込む処に、チューリップのお花畑がありました。 まるでカーペットのようでした。Tulips have transformed the Arakawa riverbed into a large colourful carpet.【Bon appétit !】 Tulip mania (チューリップ狂時代) was a period in the Dutch Golden Age during which contract prices for some bulbs of the recently introduced and fashionable tulip reached extraordinarily high levels and then dramatically collapsed in February 1637. 荒川土手の春

春よ来い！The winter is over
