Lillian Gertrud Asplund, the last American survivor of the sinking of the Titanic died on Saturday at age 99. At least 2 other survivors are living, but they were too young to have memories of the event. Asplund was 5 years old when the ship sank in 1912. She lost her father and 3 brothers in the disaster; her mother and another brother survived. The family had boarded the ship in Southampton, England; they were on their way to Worcester from Sweden.
