Now, a team of Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers has developed a cheaper, more efficient tool for harvesting the Sun’s energy - organic dyes(色素、染料). Used to coat glass panes(窓ガラス、市松模様の一目), the dyes absorb sunlight and project(に放出する)it into the glass, which then carries it to photovoltaic(光起電性の)cells located at the edges of the panels. The technology, which is expected to be in production within three years, could transform massive glass skyscrapers into energy powerhouses.
