このワイナリーは以前訪問したこともあって、特に甲州ワインには好感を持っているが、このボトルに関しては、リピートはないかなぁというのが正直な感想だ。
Medium to moderately deep garnet in color, with a hint of orange at the rim. The nose opens with a sweet, vanilla-like oak aroma. Swirling brings out notes of cassis and raspberry, along with a nuance reminiscent of orange peel. On the palate, it shows slightly “foxy” fruit flavors and a citrus-like tart acidity. The tannins are gentle, and the finish—where the oak tones mingle with the acidity—is relatively short. There’s a sense of craftsmanship in the use of oak and overall winemaking, making it an interesting wine in a way, but somehow it feels a bit artificial—like a high school girl’s purikura photo—and I found it hard to reach for a second glass.
I’ve visited this winery before and have a favorable impression of their Koshu wines in particular, but to be honest, this bottle isn’t one I’d be inclined to buy again.
