A big economic boost is on the way for New Haven.
On Thursday, the consumer goods giant Unilever shared it's going to create a global innovation center in the city. Unilever is the maker of numerous brands many of us use today, including Axe body spray and deodorant, Dove soap, Vaseline and Hellman's Mayo.
According to company officials, Unilever brands serve 95% of U.S. households already.
Thursday's announcement came with a big reveal. Not only is it a $270 million investment into New Haven, it's also going to create 300 jobs.
"Our city is just so fortunate in this moment to have such optimism, and that helps our city in so many ways," New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker said.

The London-based company, which is worth nearly $125 billion, wants to create more brands, so it's bringing on scientists, engineers and researchers to help pioneer its future.
Unilever officials say they chose New Haven specifically for the local leaders who encourage the drive of innovation.
U.S. Rep. Rosa DeLauro [D-CT] said this is one of its biggest investments in the city in 40 years.
"This community as a intersection with unbelievable assets of biomedicine, healthcare, education, etc., so it's the perfect place for you to be," DeLauro said.
The center is slated to open by spring 2029, at 2 Church St.
