Key Takeaways
-
Astera Labs fell 11% on Friday, nearly four times the Nasdaq Composite's 2.9% drop, on AI spending worries that didn't come from Astera.
-
To keep the $1.91 billion revenue estimate for 2026 intact, the November 3 report needs a fourth-quarter guide of $648 million to $668 million.
-
About half of the margin slide comes from a non-cash Amazon warrant charge. Hardware mix is the other half, and it's the part to watch.

At 46x forward earnings, against a one-year average of 72x, delivering the plan should be enough.
Astera Labs ( ALAB:NASDAQ )stock fell 11% on Friday, October 30, nearly four times the Nasdaq Composite's 2.9% drop. Alphabet (GOOGL)had just reported disappointing search results, Amazon (AMZN)had signaled heavier AI spending, and Intel (INTC)had warned on cash burn. Together they revived doubts about when all that AI spending pays off . The Nasdaq 100 briefly traded 10% below its October 6 record, in correction territory, before closing 9.1% off the high.
None of that news came from Astera. The company reports its third quarter after the close on Tuesday, November 3, with the stock already marked down. That helps on revenue, where the bar is clear and Astera keeps clearing it. It helps less on margin, where management has already guided to its lowest number in at least three years.
Revenue Has a Clear Bar
Analysts expect Astera's revenue to more than double again in 2026, to $1.91 billion, then climb to $2.98 billion in 2027 and $3.82 billion in 2028.
That 2027 figure stood at $1.34 billion a year ago, and management has earned the upgrades. Revenue beat the top of guidance in each of the last three quarters. The third-quarter guide of $540 million to $560 million sits about 40% above the second quarter's $392.4 million at the midpoint. Astera also expects Scorpio fabric switches to become its largest product family this quarter, one quarter ahead of plan.
So the number that matters on Tuesday is the fourth-quarter guide. Start with the $1.91 billion consensus, then subtract the $700.8 million Astera booked in the first half and the third-quarter range. That leaves $648 million to $668 million for the fourth quarter. A guide below that pulls the 2026 estimate down, and 2027 likely follows.

Astera Labs Stock Is Near Its Cheapest of the Year
Rising estimates and a falling price have pulled Astera down to 46x forward earnings, against a one-year average of 72x and a June peak of 143x.
The March low was 41x, so the stock sits near the bottom of its range. That's still a growth multiple, though. It holds only if normalized EPS climbs from $1.84 in 2025 to the $8.08 analysts expect for 2028, about 64% a year.
Half the Margin Slide Is an Accounting Charge
Gross margin held between 74% and 78% for 11 straight quarters before slipping to 73.3% in the second quarter. Management guided the third quarter to about 72%.
Astera's latest 10-Q blames two things: more lower-margin hardware modules in the mix, and the warrant it gave Amazon. Astera books the warrant as lower revenue, and management has put the hit at about 2 points of margin a quarter, all of it non-cash. That's roughly half of the 4 points between the first quarter's 76.3% and the third-quarter guide. Hardware mix is the other half, and it's the part to watch.
Analysts already model 72.6% for 2026 and 70.9% for 2027. A third quarter near 72%, with a fourth-quarter outlook in the same area, would be in line. A guide in the high 60s would mean hardware is eating into margin faster than expected. It would also back the selloff's case that the multiple ran ahead of the business.
What Tuesday Means for Astera Labs Stock
At 46x, Astera doesn't need a blowout. A fourth-quarter guide of at least $648 million and a margin that settles near 72% should be enough. After three straight quarters above the top of its own range, revenue is the part I'd bet on. Margin is the real test.
The catch is that the stock may not trade on its own quarter. It lost 11% in a week in mid-October with no news of its own. Its top three end customers also brought in about 86% of 2025 revenue, so Astera may answer to their capex plans more than to its own guide.
