Schindler Holding came into its Q3 2026 report with its stock at CHF286.5, up double digits over the past month and quarter, priced as a steady quality compounder rather than a turnaround gamble. The fresh numbers back up that reputation. Quarterly revenue reached CHF2,833m and basic earnings per share landed at 2.81 CHF, supported by a fatter EBIT margin that management now pegs at 13.5% for the full year. If the share price reaction felt muted, the core story is not; this quarter is about margin power quietly doing the heavy lifting.

Schindler modernization thesis clears an important hurdle
Bulls have argued that Schindler Holding's modernization and service tilt would show up first in backlog and then in blended profitability. That claim now meets a concrete checkpoint.
"Expansion of Schindler Holding's modernization backlog, which increased by 13% year on year in Q2 2026 and 15% in Q1 2026 with improving backlog margins, offers visibility for future revenue and supports a richer mix that can contribute to operating profit and net margins."
Q3 modernization revenue grew 16.5% and EBIT margin guidance moved up to 13.5%, with year to date already at that level. That points to backlog quality converting into higher margin execution rather than sitting idle.
China, FX and tariff risks still shadow Schindler
The bear story has warned that external pressures could eat into Schindler Holding's self help gains even as operations improve.
"Persistent external cost and accounting headwinds, including recurring Swiss franc strength that has reduced order intake and revenue by very large amounts over the past decade, annual gross P&L impacts from U.S. tariffs of more than CHF 30 million based on current and new measures, and the future adoption of IFRS 18 that would have reduced H1 2026 operating profit by about CHF 20 million or roughly 40 basis points of EBIT margin, could offset internal efficiency gains and restrain net margin and EBIT margin improvement."
Q3 shows margin progress despite a CHF 15m tariff drag and extra cost inflation of about CHF 35m for 2026, plus ongoing China weakness in new installations. The risk is present but, for now, not overwhelming the uplift from efficiencies and mix.

Hunt For Quiet Mispricings
