Maintaining HOLD during downsizing.
Crown Castle is a domestic communications REIT primarily providing cell tower space for colocation and single tenants. After completing a strategic review in 2024, the company has reached an agreement to sell its small cell and fiber businesses and keep operations that own and lease large towers. The sales are expected to close in 2026, and the company reported a net loss from discontinued operations of $659 million in 2025. Before asset sales close, CCI has operations in 49 states with both single-tenant and colocation towers, including about 40,000 large towers, 105,000 small cells, and 90,000 route miles of fiber. The small cell and fiber businesses had accounted for about one-third of total revenues. In 2025, total revenues were almost $4.3 billion, of which 95% was from site rentals. The company is based in Houston. CCI has a market cap of $38 billion and is part of the S&P 500.

Stocks are a mixed bag at midday on Friday, with the S&P 500 and the Nasdaq up, but the Dow Jones Industrial Average down. The Index of Consumer Sentiment showed consumer sentiment ended April with a final reading of 49.8, above the 48.5 reading economists expected but marking the lowest level on record - below readings taken during the financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic, and when inflation spiked following Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
