Broadcom ( AVGO ) reported quarterly earnings on Wednesday that only modestly beat Wall Street's expectations.

CFRA Research senior vice president and equity analyst, Angelo Zino, shares his thoughts on Broadcom's earnings print, highlighting what it signals about the broader semiconductor industry.

For Broadcom, it was it was mixed in terms of the the near-term landscape being one where listen, they they they came relatively in line with the numbers for the July quarter. The October quarter was actually slightly below our expectations, but roughly in line for the most part.

Um I'd say where where the positive aspect of it was clearly was on the longer-term guidance. Their fiscal 27 outlook of about 107, 115 billion in AI revenue was actually just shy of expectations of 120 billion.

So that was a slight miss. Um but then what I think is more important is what they said for 2028 and that was the $230 billion number for AI revenue, which was actually our forecast for the entire company. Um and that's what they're forecasting just for AI revenue.

So significant upside, and I think the visibility is really important. And when you combine with what that with what Nvidia did last week on their earnings call, giving a 2027 outlook. I think what the street has really been worried about is the trajectory, the sustainability of the um the semi industry.

And I think you got some answers here um from these two megacap companies, but also importantly, there's a lot of uncertainty out there. So just because these companies have um the supply now able to meet that demand doesn't necessarily mean that the end demand trajectory, the AI monetization across the ecosystem is what we're going to see and support that demand over the next two years.

Not to mention, um all the the uncertainties about the AI infrastructure build with the the midterms heading out, the the backlash out there also hovering over the space.

So right now, this is just a space that's out of favor. I wouldn't necessarily move out of semis or Broadcom or Nvidia, but what I would do is be more balanced across the the tech space if if I were talking to one of my investors.
