The 2026 MLB Power Rankings are back to kick off June. The first two months have done a number on the rankings, with teams flying up and down the board with two-thirds of the season to play.
The Detroit Tigers and the Chicago Cubs are among the teams tumbling in the MLB Power Rankings to start June. Read on for the updated leaderboard.
#1: Atlanta Braves (-)
Ron Chenoy-Imagn Images
The Atlanta Braves keep the top spot in the MLB Power Rankings with a league-best 40-20 record. They took two of three from the Boston Red Sox and Cincinnati Reds to become the first 40-win team . For the biggest bounceback team of the year, centerfielder Michael Harris II has been the biggest bounceback player. He's improved from a .678 OPS last year to a .868 mark this year, and is on a 100-RBI pace. The Braves host the Toronto Blue Jays and the Pittsburgh Pirates this week.
#2: Los Angeles Dodgers (-)
The Los Angeles Dodgers swept the Colorado Rockies and took two of three from the Philadelphia Phillies , moving to 38-21. They lost Teoscar Hernandez to the 10-day IL due to a hamstring injury , but their depth makes that easy to overcome. Andy Pages leads baseball with 50 RBI, and Max Muncy ranks third in franchise history in career home runs. Shohei Ohtani still has an ERA below 1.00 and an OPS over .890, too. The Dodgers are just fine and keep banking wins early in the season. LA visits the Arizona Diamondbacks and hosts the Los Angeles Angels this week.
#3: Milwaukee Brewers (+2)
The Milwaukee Brewers stumbled out of the gates, but had a dominant May to fly up the standings. They swept the St Louis Cardinals and took two of three from the Houston Astros , moving to 35-21 atop the NL Central. Jacob Misiorowski was insane in May , going 5-0 in six starts with one earned run allowed and 57 strikeouts. With Misiorowski on the mound and Brice Turang at the plate, a new Brewers core is emerging. They host the San Francisco Giants and visit the Rockies this week.
#4: Tampa Bay Rays (-)
The Tampa Bay Rays stumbled for the first time last week, getting swept by the Baltimore Orioles . They bounced back by taking two of three from the Angels, keeping their spot atop the American League East. Nick Martinez has quietly been one of the best pitchers in baseball, allowing two or fewer runs in all 11 of his starts. His dominant seven innings against LA on Friday moved his ERA to 1.62. Martinez turning into one of the top free-agent signings is just one of the reasons Tampa has been great so far. The Rays host the Detroit Tigers and visit the Miami Marlins this week.
#5: New York Yankees (+1)
The New York Yankees swept the Kansas City Royals and took two of three from the Athletics , all on the road. They put together a historic third inning against the A's on Sunday, scoring all 13 of their runs in that frame . Outside of that inning, they did not have a hit or a run. But it was enough to take the series and keep pace with the Rays. Aaron Judge is still struggling, but the Bombers are putting together wins. They host the Cleveland Guardians and the Boston Red Sox this week.
#6: San Diego Padres (-3)
David Frerker-Imagn Images
The San Diego Padres hit the skids this week, getting swept by the Phillies and dropping two of three to the Washington Nationals . They are 3-8 in their last 11 games, losing pace with the Dodgers in the NL West. But there was good news, as Fernando Tatis Jr finally hit his first home run of the season against the Nats. Tatis was one of the last players to hit a homer this year, taking over 200 plate appearances to go yard. The Padres hope that leads to a hot stretch for the superstar against the Phillies on the road and the New York Mets at home.
#7: Seattle Mariners (+4)
The Seattle Mariners are rising in the MLB Power Rankings due to their first sustained hot stretch of the season. They swept the Athletics and the Diamondbacks, moving to 31-29 and into first place in the AL West. Plus, they have done it without Cal Raleigh, who remains on the injured list. Julio Rodriguez led the offense, with seven RBI in the six games, and Logan Gilbert was great in his start. The Mariners are turning it around with a favorable schedule ahead. They host the Mets and visit the Tigers coming up.
#8: Philadelphia Phillies (-)
The Phillies swept the Padres to start the week, but dropped two of three to the Dodgers after that. Still, they are a different team under Don Mattingly, with a 21-10 record under the former Manager of the Year. Cristopher Sanchez also had an incredible May, not allowing a run in 39 innings across five starts in the month. The NL Cy Young race between Sanchez and Misiorowski has taken off and left the rest of the pack in the dust. The Phillies host the Padres and the Chicago White Sox this week.
#9: Cleveland Guardians (-)
The Guardians cooled off this week, dropping two of three to the Nationals and the Boston Red Sox. Still, they are atop the AL Central at 34-27 this season. Gavin Williams had two blowup starts in a row, allowing five runs twice to start May, but has settled in since then. In his last three starts, Williams has pitched 21 innings and allowed just three earned runs. They also got a new owner, as Travis Kelce bought a minority stake in the team . The Guardians keep winning games on pitching and defense, which they hope continues into June. They visit the Yankees and the Texas Rangers this week.
#10: Chicago Cubs (-3)
Charles LeClaire-Imagn Images
The 2026 Chicago Cubs are the first team since 2017 to own two 10-game winning streaks and one 10-game losing streak in the same season. They lost 10 in a row before Ian Happ broke out in his hometown to beat the Pittsburgh Pirates on Wednesday. The Cubs split the four-game set with Pittsburgh, but followed it up with a series loss to the St Louis Cardinals. Alex Bregman was their big offseason acquisition, and he finally got his OPS over .700 with a Sunday homer. The Cubs can turn it around at home against the Athletics and the San Francisco Giants.
#11: Toronto Blue Jays (-1)
The Toronto Blue Jays took two of three from the Miami Marlins and split four with the Orioles, moving to 29-31 on the season. Jesus Sanchez left Sunday's game with one of the most bizarre injuries of the season. A young fan thought he was offering to play catch, but Sanchez wasn't paying attention, and the ball hit him in the elbow. The Blue Jays said that the X-rays came back negative. They hope to have the outfielder in tow for three games against the Braves and three more against the Orioles.
#12: Pittsburgh Pirates (+2)
The Pirates split four with the Cubs and swept the Minnesota Twins , but the results quickly became secondary. Carmen Mlodzinski complained to the media about being moved to the bullpen, which landed him on the reserve list. He can return to Pittsburgh, but the relationship seems frosty. After that, the Pirates put Konnor Griffin on the injured list with a right elbow strain. Griffin had an .803 OPS in his last nine games before the injury. They take their 32-28 record on the road to face the Astros and the Braves this week.
#13: Texas Rangers (-)
The Rangers started the week with a disastrous series loss to the Astros, but bounced back by sweeping the Royals. Those three wins moved them to 28-31 on the season, which has them within striking distance of the AL West lead. Through a rough season for Texas' offense, Josh Jung has been incredible. The third baseman leads the AL with a .316 batting average and has a 1.030 OPS in his last 11 games. Someone had to turn it around offensively, and that has been Jung. The Rangers visit the Cardinals and host the Guardians this week.
#14: Athletics (-1)
The Athletics were swept by the Mariners and dropped two of three to the Yankees, falling to 28-31 on the season. Nick Kurtz and Shea Langeliers continue to lead the offense, but pitching is a concern. Luis Severino hit the injured list after his Friday start against the Yankees , thinning out an already-poor rotation. Giving up 13 runs in an inning isn't going to help, either. The Athletics visit the Cubs and the Astros next with an opportunity to turn it around.
#15: Arizona Diamondbacks (-)
Anna Carrington-Imagn Images
The Diamondbacks were blistering hot heading into a weekend series with the Mariners, which did not go as well. They were swept by Seattle, ending a 10-1 stretch and dropping their record to 31-27. Ketel Marte was on a heater going into the series as well, with a 1.286 OPS in 13 games before playing his old team. He went 0-for-11 with three walks against Seattle. The Diamondbacks host the Dodgers and the Nationals this week.
#16: St. Louis Cardinals (+1)
The Cardinals were swept by the Brewers, but bounced back by taking two of three from the Cubs. They are 31-26, good enough for second place in the NL Central. Nothing can stop the Busch Stadium crowd from taking their tarps off and getting behind a team everyone had written off. JJ Wetherholt was key to the series win over the Cubs, picking up five hits in three games. The Cardinals host the Rangers and the Reds this week.
#17: Chicago White Sox (+3)
The White Sox continue to fly up the MLB Power Rankings, taking three of four from the Twins and sweeping the Tigers. Munetaka Murakami is on the injured list with a hamstring injury , but that hasn't stopped the Southsiders. They called up Jacob Gonzalez, their 23rd-ranked prospect, to take his place. Gonzalez went 1-for-3 in his MLB debut. The White Sox keep stacking wins and can keep it up on the road against the Twins and the Phillies.
#18: Cincinnati Reds (-)
The Reds finished off a brutal May by taking two of three from the Mets and dropping two of three to the Braves. They went 10-17 in May, with all of their one-run heroics from April disappearing. On top of it, the injuries are starting to pile up. Elly De La Cruz left Sunday's game with hamstring tightness , Graham Ashcraft is on the 60-day IL with a UCL sprain, and Hunter Greene is still not back. The Reds are wobbling with the Royals at home before visiting the Cardinals for three games.
#19: Baltimore Orioles (-)
The Orioles swept the Rays before splitting four games with the Blue Jays, pulling up to 28-32 on the season. There are still massive reasons for concern in Baltimore, but Samuel Basallo is far from one of them. Basallo leads the team with an .860 OPS and slugged a big homer on Tuesday against the Rays. They cannot have another disappointing season like they did last year, and Basallo is pulling more than his weight to ensure that doesn't happen. The Orioles visit the Red Sox and the Blue Jays this week.
#20: New York Mets (+3)
John Jones-Imagn Images
The Mets may finally be back on track, riding a four-game winning streak after sweeping the Marlins. They started the week dropping two of three to the Reds, but any momentum is good at this point in the season. Juan Soto hit a monstrous grand slam on Sunday that broke the series finale open against Miami. If the Mets are going to get hot, Soto is going to be at the center of it. The Mets hit the road to face the Mariners and the Padres with wins a necessity.
#21: Washington Nationals (+3)
The Nationals took two of three from the Guardians and the Padres, moving to 31-29 on the season. They have surpassed every expectation set for them this season, with James Wood and CJ Abrams leading the way. Coming into the season, Abrams was considered a trade target as a new rebuild began in Washington. But with their record above .500, maybe they'll be soft buyers in two months. The Nationals host the Marlins and visit the Diamondbacks this week.
#22: Boston Red Sox (-)
The Red Sox dropped two of three to the Braves but bounced back by winning two of three over the Guardians. They are 25-33, which has them in last place in the AL East. Garrett Crochet suffered a setback in his shoulder injury recovery , just another piece of bad news in a disastrous season. It's still early enough for the Red Sox to make a run and get into the Wild Card race. But no Boston fan is counting on that happening right now. The Red Sox host the Orioles and visit the Yankees this week.
#23: Minnesota Twins (+2)
The Twins are moving up only to make room for some worse teams falling. They had a disastrous week, dropping three of four to the White Sox and getting swept by the Pirates. The injuries are catching up to him, with Ryan Jeffers and Bailey Ober both on the shelf. Royce Lewis and Matt Wallner are still in the minor leagues, and Byron Buxton missed another game . The Twins had low expectations, so this week should not come as any surprise. The Twins host the White Sox and the Royals this week.
#24: Detroit Tigers (-8)
The Tigers have the worst record in the American League and are the biggest fallers in the MLB Power Rankings to start June. Since Tarik Skubal went on the injured list, they are 4-20 and have collapsed out of the Wild Card race. The only Skubal conversations right now are when he is going to come back and where he will be traded . The Tigers lost two of three to the Angels and were swept by the White Sox, falling to 22-38. Next, they face the Rays and the Mariners at the worst possible time.
#25: Miami Marlins (-4)
Mike Watters-Imagn Images
The Marlins lost two of three to the Blue Jays and were swept by the Mets, dropping to 26-34. As has been the case for the Fish in recent years, players are putting together solid individual seasons. Liam Hicks is that player this year, with an .812 OPS and 45 RBI this season. Last year, it was Kyle Stowers who slugged 25 homers with a .912 OPS. This year, Stowers has just three homers and a .663 OPS. The Marlins don't have the depth, and they're in last place because of it. They visit the Nationals and host the Rays this week.
#26: Houston Astros (-)
The Astros took three of four from the Rangers, but followed that up by dropping two of three to the Brewers. They are 27-34, but the AL West is the right division to be in after a slow start. Their depth has been tested this year, but isn't passing. Yordan Alvarez and Christian Walker can only do so much , and Cam Smith and Isaac Paredes are not pulling their weight. It's getting late early in Houston, with the Pirates and the Athletics coming to town next.
#27: Kansas City Royals (-)
There is still a long way to go in this baseball season, but the Royals' season may be over after a dreadful 0-6 week. They were swept by the Yankees at home and then hit the road to get swept by the Rangers. Bailey Falter put up one of the worst starts of the season against the Bombers, Vinnie Pasquantino still hasn't broken out of his slump yet, and Maikel Garcia left Sunday's game with a hamstring injury . They are 15 games under .500 in the AL Central with some solid teams in it. The Royals need wins against the Reds and the Twins this week.
#28: San Francisco Giants (-)
The Giants were swept by the Diamondbacks and lost two of three to the Rockies, falling to 23-36 on the season. They traded Patrick Bailey in part to make Daniel Susac their primary catcher, and he has been terrible. In May, he had just six hits in nine games, falling far short of the offensive expectations. Willy Adames and Matt Chapman are not pulling their weight either, which makes everything harder in San Francisco. They visit the Brewers and the Cubs next.
#29: Los Angeles Angels (+1)
The Angels are peeking out of the MLB Power Rankings basement after taking a series from the Tigers and dropping two of three to the Rays. Jose Siri made one of the best defensive plays of the year on Sunday , robbing a grand slam and saving a buffet in the process. The only question remaining is who put a buffet there? Mike Trout leads the AL with 45 runs and leads baseball with 56 walks, which is right where he expects to be. The Angels host the Rockies and visit the Dodgers.
#30: Colorado Rockies (-1)
Jayne Kamin-Oncea-Imagn Images
The Rockies are back in the basement with their 22-38 record to start June. They were swept by the Dodgers but did take a series from the Giants over the weekend. Without Mickey Moniak or Brenton Doyle , their already-poor offense has taken a nosedive. One of their primary offseason signings, Tomoyuki Sugano , has a 4.01 ERA in 11 starts. That is solid, but not good enough for someone who has to be an ace. The Rockies visit the Angels and host the Brewers this week.
