TCU Horned Frogs discuss competition in the offense
TCU Horned Frogs Offensive Coordinator Gordon Sammis discusses competition in the offense. Sammis talks about how there is competiton in the wide out room, running back room, and tight end room, and how if someone is having an off day there will be someone to step up.

Oh, it's been great.
It's been great.
Um, a lot of talent in that room, which I'm excited about.
Um, really like our young guys who just came in.
Um, it's great to have John Denmon as well just to kind of get him in the scheme.
I've heard a lot of good things.
I've watched him on tape.
I've been, you know, excited to coach him.
Um, You know, so it's good to have him, um, and it's good to see and, and really wide out room, running back room, and tight end room.
It's just great to have competition.
Uh, there's not a day where you can take off and if you do have a bad day and you can't bounce back, someone's gonna hopefully step up, you know, and I think that's kind of the, the best way to make improvements.
As an offensive coordinator coach, you've got a wide variety in that tight end room size, you got athleticism, but how, I, I guess how much of a bonus is that to have that kind of.
I, I love it, um, love having tight ends, especially ones that are that can be pass threats and catch the ball well.
It just makes life, um, a lot easier, um, pass game as well as run game.
It lengthens your edges, um, for the O-line, gives you more surface to have to defend, more gaps to defend, um, and then when you can add a guy who's legitimate pass threat as well, um, you know, you make the defense have to play a lot of scenarios, which is always a good thing.

Uh, talk about your relationship with Andy Avalos as the defensive coordinator and how are you guys working together to, to make the most of these.
Yeah it's it's been um it's been great you know we worked together a lot to try to um get what we need out of practice, you know, um I've leaned on him a good amount just because he's been here so he kinda knows how the operation goes and and stuff like that and you know um he's been a great resource just in terms of hey you know how what what's your meeting structure been how have you maximized your time, you know, um, he'll give me like a heads up like hey once class starts you know you're gonna probably wanna do this, um.
Just because the times change for the players, stuff like that so he's been, he's been really helpful in that regard in terms of structuring meetings, things like that, um, and then just, you know, you know, I'll always try to ask, I mean this is any defensive coach anywhere I've been, but I just always wanna ask questions what's hard, you know, what did we do or what was easy, um, and then I'm more than happy and just to talk I'll talk football any any time of the day just, you know, hey, here's what I'm seeing.
Um, this is what I would do, you know, if I were playing you, that kind of stuff just to try to get each other better, so it's been great.
