Breast cancer survivors who have had radiation to the armpit or whose lymph nodes(リンパ節)were removed to check for cancer can develop lymphedema(リンパ浮腫)- a debilitating condition in which fluid builds up in extremities, such as the arms and hands. Since lymphedema can flare(急に悪化する)up easily, many doctors advise patients who have the chronic condition to avoid heavy lifting. However, a new study has shown that a regular weight training regimen(養生、処方)improves patients’ arm strength and may actually reduce symptoms of lymphedema.
