ぶらり東京散歩その23～渋谷MIYASHITA PARK Tokyo Stroll 23 Shibuya Miyashita Park

It’s funny how the saying “You can’t see what’s right under your nose” holds true even for places we think we know well. Shibuya is just a short ride from home, and I’ve been visiting it since my younger days—but somehow, there’s always something new to discover.
With the area currently undergoing a once-in-a-century redevelopment, it’s no wonder that even longtime visitors can feel a bit disoriented.

1953年（昭和28年）に開設された渋谷区立宮下公園は、1960年代に東京初の屋上公園として整備されました。そして現在は公園や商業施設、ホテルなどが一体となった、誰もが楽しめる多彩な機能を持つ施設として生まれ変わりました。全⻑約330mの商業施設「RAYARD MIYASHITA PARK」はショッピングやグルメ、横丁を楽しんだり、カフェでコーヒーを飲みながら道行く人を眺めるのにぴったりの場所です。
屋上にある渋谷区立宮下公園にはスケート場、ボルダリングウォール、多目的運動施設（サンドコート仕様）が設置されていて、ビーチバレーなども楽しめます。渋谷の喧騒の中、緑あふれる空間でリラックスすることもできます。
さらにMIYASHITA PARKにはホテルもあり、宿泊したり街探索の拠点にも利用できます。原宿で流行のフードやファッションを楽しんだり、レトロな雰囲気の「渋谷横丁」の居酒屋で一杯飲むのもおすすめです。※GO TOKYO　より。
Opened in 1953, Miyashita Park was redeveloped in the 1960s into Tokyo’s first rooftop park. Today, it’s been completely transformed into a multi-purpose complex that blends a public park, shopping mall, hotel, and dining area—a space that anyone can enjoy.

The commercial zone, RAYARD MIYASHITA PARK, stretches roughly 330 meters and is a great spot for shopping, dining, or simply people-watching over a cup of coffee.
On the rooftop, you’ll find a skate park, bouldering wall, and multi-sport sand courts—ideal for beach volleyball and more. It’s a green oasis where you can relax amidst the hustle and bustle of Shibuya.

「渋谷横丁」は、少し狙いすぎのような気もするが、夜は混んでいるのだろうか？機会があれば訪問してみようと思う。
As for Shibuya Yokocho, it feels a little too on-trend—but I wonder how lively it gets at night. I’d like to check it out sometime.

屋上の庭園はとても気持ち良い。なんとなくうら寂れた雰囲気だった旧宮下公園とは雲泥の差だ。
The rooftop garden is especially pleasant—a world apart from the rather bleak atmosphere of the old Miyashita Park.

その後、シンガポール料理店の海南鶏飯食堂でひとりランチ。12時前とあって店内は空いていた。
Afterward, I had a solo lunch at Hainan Jeefan Shokudō, a Singaporean-style chicken rice place.
Since it was just before noon, the restaurant was still fairly empty.

カウマンガイの味はまあまあだったが、量は控えめで値段はやや強気。まあ場所柄仕方ないですかね。
The khao man gai was decent—not spectacular—but the portion was modest and the price a bit on the high side. Then again, that’s probably to be expected in this part of town.
