東京ぶらり散歩その21～向島から東京ミズマチへ Tokyo Stroll21 From Mukojima to Tokyo Mizumachi
向島百花園を出て、近所にある白髭神社を参拝。After leaving Mukojima Hyakkaen Garden, I stopped by the nearby Shirahige Shrine.天暦五年（951年）に近江国の白鬚大明神の御分霊をこの地に祀った。この辺（旧寺島村）の氏神としてばかりでなく、商売繁盛、方災除け、厄除けの神として多くの人々の崇敬を受けている。隅田川七福神の寿老神としても崇められている。The shrine enshrines the divided spirit of Shirahige Daimyojin from Omi Province, brought here in 951 (Tenryaku 5). It has long been revered not only as the guardian deity of this area—formerly Terajima Village—but also as a god of prosperity in business, protection from misfortune, and warding off evil. It is also worshipped as Jurōjin, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune of the Sumida River.なお、この界隈は、かつて「寺島ナス」の産地として知られていたところで、近年、復活プロジェクトもあるらしい。This area was once famous for producing “Terajima eggplants,” and in recent years there has even been a revival project.さて、向島は、かつて多くの文豪が過ごしていたことでも知られている。私のような東京西部出身の人間からすると、向島はかなり馴染の薄い土地だが、もとは花街だったこともあり、戦前まではこちらのほうがずっと栄えていたのだ。Mukojima is also known for having been home to many literary figures. For someone like me, who grew up in western Tokyo, Mukojima feels rather unfamiliar, but it was once a flourishing entertainment district, and before the war it was far livelier than it is today.墨田区立露伴児童遊園。「五重塔」などで知られる幸田露伴の住居「蝸牛庵」があったところである。I then came to Rohan Children’s Park in Sumida Ward, the site where the home of Kōda Rohan—known for works such as The Five-Storied Pagoda—once stood. A fine monument marks the location. 立派な碑が建てられている。家自体は犬山市にある博物館明治村に移築され、そこで露伴旧居蝸牛庵として公開されている。The house itself was relocated to the Meiji Mura Museum in Inuyama, where it is preserved as Rohan’s former residence “Kagyūan.”幸田露伴は、明治30年（1897年）からの約10年間をその家で過ごしている。娘で作家になった幸田文は、この家で生まれた。Rohan lived in this home for about ten years from 1897 (Meiji 30). His daughter, the author Kōda Aya, was born there.「宮本武蔵」などで知られる吉川英治の旧居後地は、保育園になっている。The former site of the home of Eiji Yoshikawa—famed for Musashi—is now occupied by a nursery school. 吉川英治はあちこち引っ越しいたようで、青梅や品川にも記念館や旧宅旧居後地があるようだ。ここに住んでいたのは25歳のころのようだ。Yoshikawa seems to have moved house quite often; memorials and former residences can be found in Ome, Shinagawa, and elsewhere. He lived here when he was around 25 years old.他にもいろいろ旧居跡のモニュメントがあるらしいのだが、この日は思いのほか日差しが強く、歩き疲れたので断念。東武鉄道で曳舟からふた駅乗って浅草駅に移動した。There are apparently other monuments marking the sites of writers’ former homes in the area, but the sun was stronger than expected that day, and I was tired from walking, so I gave up on further exploration. I took the Tobu Railway from Hikifune and, two stops later, arrived at Asakusa.浅草は先日ぶらぶらしたばかりだったので端折って、「すみだリバーウォーク」からスカイツリーを目指す。Since I had just wandered around Asakusa recently, I skipped it this time and instead headed for the Tokyo Skytree via the Sumida River Walk.隅田公園。まだ桜の季節に来たことはないが、園内には700本の桜が植えられているとのこと。Sumida Park, along the way, is said to have 700 cherry trees, though I’ve never visited during blossom season.ここから、スカイツリーまでのガード下は、「東京ミズマチ」といって、オシャレな店が軒を連ねている…と書きたいところだったが、いきなりシャッターの下りた入居者募集中の店舗を目の当たりにして、肩透かしを食った気分だった。rom here to the Skytree, the space under the elevated railway is known as “Tokyo Mizumachi,” lined—supposedly—with stylish shops. That’s what I’d like to say, but the first thing I saw was a shuttered, vacant storefront with a “For Lease” sign, which left me feeling a bit deflated.「東京ミズマチ」、どうなのだろうか。発想は面白いし、賑わってほしいところだが。I wonder how Tokyo Mizumachi is really doing. The concept is interesting, and I hope it thrives, but…ということでぶらぶら歩いて東京スカイツリー直下の「東京ソラマチ」に到着。After a leisurely stroll, I reached Tokyo Solamachi directly beneath the Skytree. こちらはこちらで、壁際の蔦？がなにやら雑然とした印象を与えるのだが、何か意味があるのだろうか？？この日は夕刻用事があったので、スカイツリーには立ち寄らず、そのまま押上駅から帰宅。また日をあらためて来てみたい。The vines—or perhaps ivy?—clinging to the walls gave a somewhat cluttered impression, though maybe they have some intended purpose.Since I had plans in the evening, I didn’t go up the Skytree this time. I headed home from Oshiage Station, resolving to come back another day.

洗面台の蛇口が壊れて洗面台ごと交換（25万）と言われた話 Broken Faucet Nightmare: Sink Replacement for 250,000 Yen
築30年の古屋に住んでいるが、水回りについては2008年に大掛かりなリフォームを行った。90センチ幅のこのTOTOの洗面台もその際新設したものである。I live in a 30-year-old house, but the plumbing was extensively renovated back in 2008. This 90 cm-wide TOTO washbasin was also newly installed during that renovation.蛇口とレバーの部分はそれぞれ別になっている。レバーを持ち上げれば水が出て、下げれば止まる。左に回すとお湯が出るというよくある仕組みである。The faucet and the lever are separate parts. Lifting the lever turns the water on, pushing it down turns it off. Turning it to the left releases hot water—this is a common mechanism.そのレバーが先日壊れてしまった。写真でみると、単に蓋が外れたようにも見えるが、蓋の部分は接着されていて、その接合部分のプラスチックが割れてしまっていた。The lever broke just the other day. Looking at the photos, it might seem like the cover simply popped off, but actually, the cover is glued on, and the plastic at the joint had cracked.早速馴染の建設会社（かつて家のリフォームをお願いしたところ）に連絡して、担当者に来てもらったところ、なんと「この洗面台は生産が終了して久しく、部品ももうないので、洗面台ごと取り替えるほかない。」という衝撃の回答。で、その見積もりが工賃含めて約25万円とのこと！I immediately contacted the construction company I know well—they did the renovation work on my house before—and had a representative come by. To my shock, I was told,“This washbasin has been out of production for a long time, and the parts are no longer available, so the entire unit must be replaced.”The estimate for the replacement, including labor, was about 250,000 yen!どうにも納得できない。だって、単にレバーの蓋の接着部分が壊れただけですよ。I just can’t accept that.After all, it’s just the glued joint on the lever’s cover that’s broken.汚い写真で恐縮だが、プラスチックの部品を外してみると、9mm角のレバーが出てきた。要はゲームセンターのゲーム機のように、このレバーを上下左右に操作できるものがあればいいわけで、これで洗面台全部を交換というのはどう考えても理不尽すぎる。とりあえず、壊れた部分を両面テープで貼ったり、接触する部分にラップを巻いたりして、だましだまし使いつつ、まずは近所のホームセンターに行ったみた。しかし、ここでも「そのような部品はないし、聞いたこともない」というつれない返事。それで今度は、楽天で「洗面台」「蛇口」「レバー」「9ｍｍ」などのワードを打ち込んで検索してみたら、意外にそれっぽいものが出てくるではないか！Apologies for the messy photo, but when I removed the plastic part, a 9mm square lever was revealed. Basically, what’s needed is a lever that can move up, down, left, and right—like the joystick on an arcade game machine. So having to replace the entire washbasin over this is just utterly unreasonable.For the time being, I tried sticking the broken part back on with double-sided tape and wrapped plastic wrap around the contact points to keep it working somehow. Then, I went to a nearby home improvement store. However, they gave me a cold response: “We don’t have such parts, and we’ve never heard of them.”So next, I searched on Rakuten using keywords like “washbasin,” “faucet,” “lever,” and “9mm.” To my surprise, something quite close to what I needed actually showed up!蛇口 レバーハンドル 水道 ハンドル 水栓蛇口 レバー シングルレバー 水栓ハンドル 洗面台 キッチン 用価格：1,869円（税込、送料無料) (2025/5/30時点)これらのハンドルが使えるかどうかは試してみないことにはわからないのだが、1869円と安価だったこともあり、ダメもとで購入してみた。待つこと約10日。送られてきた部品を装着してみると…I won’t know if these handles will actually work until I try them, but since they were reasonably priced at 1,869 yen, I decided to take a chance and buy one.After about 10 days of waiting, I received the part and tried installing it…なんの違和感もなく、装着することができた。I was able to install it without any issues or awkwardness.使用感もまったく問題なし。お湯と水の色分けがないことを除けば、正規の交換部品だと言ってもいいぐらいのしっくり感だ。25万かかるところ、1869円で済んだと喜ぶべきか、それとも1869円で済むものに25万かけるところだったと、話のネタにするところだろうか。まあ、業者の名誉のために書いておくと、私がいつもお願いしている建設会社は基本的にとてもよくやってくれるところで、今まで数えきれないほどお世話になってきたし、２年前の年末に家の中が水浸しになったときも、比較的安価で迅速に対応してくれた。ただ、今回ばかりは、もう少しユーザーに寄り添って、丁寧に調べてほしかったなぁというところである。カミサンいわく、担当者は「破損部分をろくにチェックもしなかった」というのだから‥。人手不足の中、こんな些末な案件にいちいち対応していられないというのがあちらの本音かもしれない。まあたしかにそれはそうだろう。近所でどこかフットワークのよい工務店があるといいのだが、長年住んでいてもさっぱりそのようなつながりを作れずにいる。それともうひとつ、この洗面所、照明が蛍光灯なので、いずれそちらをLEDに変えなければならない。そこでもまたひと悶着ありそうな気がする。今のうちに蛍光灯を何本か買っておこうかなぁ…。The feel of using the replacement part is completely fine. Apart from the lack of color coding for hot and cold water, it fits so well that you could almost say it’s an official replacement part.So, should I be happy I got away with spending just 1,869 yen instead of 250,000? Or should I joke that I was about to pay 250,000 for something that only cost 1,869? Either way, it’s quite the story.To be fair to the company, the construction firm I usually rely on has always done excellent work for me. They’ve helped me countless times over the years and even responded quickly and affordably when my house flooded at the end of 2 years ago.That said, this time, I wish they had taken a bit more care to really check the damaged part and been more user-friendly. According to my wife, the person in charge “barely inspected the broken part.”I guess with the current labor shortage, they might feel they can’t afford to spend time on such minor issues. Fair enough. It would be nice if there were some nimble local contractors nearby, but even after living here for years, I haven’t managed to make such connections.One more thing: the lighting in this washroom is fluorescent, so at some point, I’ll need to switch it to LED. I have a feeling that might cause another hassle. Maybe I should stock up on a few fluorescent bulbs while I still can...

ぶらり東京散歩その20～向島百花園 Tokyo Stroll 20 Mukojima Hyakkaen Garden
GW中のこの日、降り立ったのは、東武鉄道「東向島」駅。ちなみにこの駅沿いには「東武博物館」がある。On this day during Golden Week, I got off at Tobu Railway’s Higashi-Mukojima Station. By the way, the Tobu Museum is located along this station’s line.駅からてくてくと歩いて７～８分。「向島百貨園」に到着。After a leisurely 7 to 8-minute walk from the station, I arrived at Mukojima Hyakkaen Garden.仙台藩の骨とう商だった佐原鞠塢が旗本多賀氏の元屋敷跡である向島の地に、花の咲く草花鑑賞を中心とした「民営の花園」を造り、開園したのが始まり。The garden’s origins trace back to when Sahara Kyoku, an antique dealer from the Sendai domain, created and opened a privately owned flower garden focused on enjoying blooming flowers and plants on the site of the former residence of the hatamoto Taga family in Mukojima.開園当初は、360本のウメが主体だったが、その後、ミヤギノハギ、筑 波のススキなど詩経や万葉集などの中国、日本の古典に詠まれている有名な植物を集め、四季を通じて花が咲くようにした。When the garden first opened, it was mainly home to 360 plum trees. Later, it expanded to include famous plants mentioned in classical Chinese and Japanese literature—such as the Miyagino-hagi bush and Tsukuba pampas grass from the Shijing and Manyoshu—arranged so that flowers bloom throughout all four seasons.今ではスーパーのプラスチックパックでしか見なくなった春の七草が植えられている。ここの展示はこうした地味ながらも、我々の生活や古典文学に出てくるものが多いようだ。Nowadays, the seven spring herbs—usually only seen in plastic packs at supermarkets—are actually planted here. The garden’s exhibits often feature these humble plants that play important roles in our daily lives and classical literature.東京スカイツリーを背にしたこのスポットはなかなかインスタ映えすると思うのだが、観光客はあまり多くはなかった。渋すぎるのだろうか。This spot, with Tokyo Skytree in the background, is quite Instagram-worthy, but there weren’t many tourists around. Maybe it’s a bit too low-key for most people.ノスタルジックな茶屋がいい味を出している。The nostalgic teahouse adds a charming touch to the atmosphere.このあと、向島の街並みをぶらぶら歩いて、東京スカイツリーをめざすことにした。After this, I decided to take a leisurely stroll through the streets of Mukojima, heading toward Tokyo Skytree.

Ch.カップ・ド・フォジュール・ラ・ムーレール2016 Château Cap de Faugères La Mourelle 2016
今年の年初に購入したうきうきさんの安い価格帯の福袋（１万と1.5万赤白）は、昨今の円安や仏ドメーヌの高騰などを反映してか、イタリアやスペインなどの普及銘柄中心であまり心躍るラインアップではなかった。それらいずれの福袋においても、目玉の１本と思われるのが、この銘柄（要するに２本送られてきた。）サンテミリオンで人気も実力ともに確固たる地位を築いたグラン・クリュのシャトー・フォジェールの地続きのコート・ド・カスティヨンの区画から造られるシャトー・カップ・ド・フォジェール。その20haの中の4haの中の選りすぐりの単一畑の小区画からのみ造られる特別最高峰キュヴェ (粘土石灰質土壌の斜面の畑からの古木の葡萄を木樽発酵＆オーク樽14ケ月熟成＆ノンコラージュ)がこのカップ・ド・フォジェール“ラ・ムーレール”！しかもそのほとんどがアメリカ市場に直行！(当時の現地での販売想定価格でも約1万円)しかもこの特別なキュヴェはあまりに贅沢に造られたため、生産されたヴィンテージはわずか2014年、2015年、2016年のわずか3ヴィンテージのみと言うまさに幻の特別キュヴェということで、たしかに楽天では５Kぐらいのプライスがついている。福袋の損得勘定で考えれば、この銘柄1本入っているだけで、他の銘柄が1000～2000円程度のボトルばかりでも十分もとはとれるという計算になる。のだが…。この銘柄、わたし的には全くもってイマイチだった。そもそもアルコール度15％というボルドーを私は求めていない。ヘビー級のアルコール度と濃縮感のある果実味を今風の樽使いと角の取れたタンニンとで、なんとなく高級そうに仕上げている印象だが、なんとも「力まかせ」な印象が強く、「ワイン誌高得点セット」などによく入っているイタリアやスペインのワインに共通する味筋だ。各要素がせめぎあいつつ酸がスーッと引っ張るバランスとか、スパイス類に混ざって感じられるシダや杉などのニュアンスとか、熟成とともに出てくる肥沃な土やスーボワっぽいフレーバーとか、そういった個人的にボルドーに期待する要素（まあ私の場合、好みは主に左岸なのだが）が希薄で、とにかく杯が進まない。正直、これをあと１本、自力で開けるのはかなりの苦痛なので、次回息子が帰省したときにでも、一緒に飲んでもらうことにしようと思う。At the start of this year, I purchased Ukkiuki-san’s affordable wine lucky bags priced at 10,000 and 15,000 yen for red and white sets. Perhaps reflecting the recent weak yen and soaring prices of French domaines, the lineup was mostly composed of popular, entry-level Italian and Spanish brands—not very exciting. In every lucky bag, however, there was one standout bottle—or rather, this particular label appeared twice.Château Cap de Faugères is produced from contiguous vineyards next to the well-established Grand Cru Château Faugères in Saint-Émilion, specifically in the Côtes de Castillon appellation. This special, top-tier cuvée, “La Mourelle,” comes from a carefully selected 4-hectare parcel within a 20-hectare estate. Made from old vines planted on clay-limestone slopes, the grapes undergo barrel fermentation and 14 months aging in oak barrels with no fining or filtration. Almost all production goes straight to the U.S. market, where the local retail price is about 10,000 yen. Because this cuvée was crafted so lavishly, only three vintages—2014, 2015, and 2016—were ever made, making it a rare, almost phantom cuvée.Unsurprisingly, this wine is priced around 5,000 yen on Rakuten. From a value perspective, even if the other bottles in the lucky bag are around 1,000 to 2,000 yen each, just having one bottle of this label more than compensates. But...For me personally, this wine was a total disappointment. First off, I don’t seek out Bordeaux wines with a hefty 15% alcohol. The combination of high alcohol and intensely concentrated fruit flavor, alongside modern oak treatment and softened tannins, strikes me as trying too hard to appear premium—it feels overwhelmingly forceful. This style is common among Italian and Spanish wines often found in “high-scoring wine magazine sets.”I find it lacking in the subtle interplay of elements I expect from Bordeaux—such as a balance where acidity elegantly pulls through, the nuances of ferns and cedar spices, and the fertile earth and sous-bois notes that develop with age. (Though my preference is mainly for the Left Bank.) Simply put, I couldn’t enjoy it, and it made it hard to drink glass after glass. Honestly, opening another bottle by myself would be a chore, so I plan to save it for when my son visits next, and share it with him instead.

ぶらり東京散歩その19～江戸東京たてもの園② Tokyo Stroll 19 – Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum (2)
東ゾーンでは、昔の商家・銭湯・居酒屋などから、下町の風情を楽しむことができる。復元した建物の中には、当時の暮らしや商売の道具・商品などを展示している。In the East Zone, you can enjoy the atmosphere of old downtown Tokyo, with historic merchant houses, public baths, and taverns. Inside the restored buildings, exhibits display tools and products from daily life and business of those times.この日はこどもの日とあって、こども向けのお店屋さんてきなイベントをやっていたが、それはちょっと違うのかな～と思った。Since it was Children's Day, there was an event for kids resembling old-style shops, but somehow it felt a little out of place.ちなみに、立地的にスタジオジブリに近いこともあってか、園内の建物は、ジブリ映画の背景画像の参考などにもなっていたらしい。Incidentally, perhaps because of its proximity to Studio Ghibli, the buildings here have served as reference backgrounds for Ghibli films.これが銭湯。This is the public bath (sento).内装は懐かしい雰囲気だが、それほど古さは感じないかも。まさに私の幼少期にあったような銭湯。The interior has a nostalgic feel, but it doesn’t seem too old-fashioned. It’s just like the sento I remember from my childhood.「江戸東京たてもの園」は小金井公園の一角にあるが、この施設自体もかなりの広さで、すべての建物をきっちり見て回って、なおかつ写真を撮ったりしていたら、半日がかりというレベルである。園内のアメニティがもう少し充実していればと思う。通常の土日や平日などはさほど来訪者も見込めないのだろうが、せめて繁忙期には、キッチンカーなどをもっと手配してほしいところである。The Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum is located within Koganei Park and is quite spacious. If you want to thoroughly explore all the buildings and take photos, it can easily take half a day. I wish there were more amenities inside the park. On regular weekends or weekdays, the visitor numbers may not be high, but at least during busy seasons, I hope they arrange more food trucks and other conveniences.

ぶらり東京散歩その18～江戸東京たてもの園① Tokyo Stroll 18 – Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum (1)
かなり古新聞になってしまったが、ゴールデンウイークを利用して、一度行ってみたいと思っていた「江戸東京たてもの園」に行ってきた。駐車場が混雑していて、なかなか入れなかったのはまだ想定内として、誘導係のオペレーションが悪く、パーキングの順番待ちすらまともにさせてもらえなかったのには閉口した。（公道にはみ出してしまい、通行の邪魔になるからといって、待たせてもらえなかった。）もうひとつ、これも想定内ではあったが、園内は飲食できる施設が少ないので、GWのような混雑日には簡単にランチ難民になってしまう。園内には、靴を脱いで階段を上がる家も少なくなくて、何軒も回っていると、これが結構疲れる。どこかで休憩したくても、気の利いたカフェは園内に１カ所しかない。もう少し、いろいろとオペレーションをなんとかしてほしいよなぁとは思ったが、まあそれでも、いろいろと古い建物を楽しめたのは、古民家好きの私にとっては、得難い経験だった。Though this report is getting a bit old, I used Golden Week as an opportunity to finally visit the Edo-Tokyo Open Air Architectural Museum, which I had wanted to see for some time.The parking lot was crowded, which I had expected, but what really frustrated me was the poor operation of the parking attendants—they wouldn’t even let us wait in line properly. They said we couldn’t wait because it would block the public road.Also, as expected, there are very few places to eat inside the park, so on busy days like Golden Week, it’s easy to become a “lunch refugee.”Many of the buildings require you to take off your shoes and climb stairs, so visiting multiple houses can be quite tiring.There’s only one decent café inside the park if you want to take a break.I hope they improve these operational issues, but even so, being able to enjoy so many historic buildings was a rare and valuable experience for someone like me who loves old houses.東京都美術館など数々の建築で知られる前川國男邸。The Kunio Maekawa House, designed by the architect known for the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum and many other buildings. モダンなつくりのリビング。他の来場者の反応も、おそらくここが一番人気だったかもしれない。A modern-style living room. 伝統的な一本～バローロ・リゼルヴァ・10アンニ2013（ポジオ・ベル・コッレ）A Traditional Classic — Barolo Riserva 10 Anni 2013 (Podio Bel Colle)
ベル・コッレは、ボジオ・ファミリー・エステートが所有しているワイナリーのひとつ。1970年代にポンテグリョーネ兄弟とジュゼッペ・プリオラ氏の3人によってバローロ地区ヴェルドゥーノ村に設立されました。ベル・コッレは、バローロの伝統派として知られていましたが、1980年にボジオ・ファミリー・エステートの傘下に入り、リュット・レゾネ（減農薬農法）や醸造設備への投資などの改革を実施。近年では多くのワイン評論家から注目される実力派ワイナリーとして知られるようになっています。畑では一貫して手摘み収穫を実践し高品質なぶどうの栽培に成功しています。ベル・コッレは、バローロの伝統派として知られていましたが、1980年にボジオ・ファミリー・エステートの傘下に入り、リュット・レゾネ(減農薬農法)や醸造設備への投資などの大改革を行い人気も品質も急上昇しました。透明感のあるオレンジガーネットで、エッジは少しレンガ色っぽくなっている。香りはブラックチェリーやストロベリー、甘草や八角、丁子などのスパイス、タバコ、なめし皮など、全開とまではいかないが、長く熟成させたことによる心地よい香りがたちのぼる。とはいえ、飲んでみると伝統的なバローロらしく、凝縮されて純度の高い果実味や伸びやかな酸を愉しめる一方で、やや険のあるタンニンが目立ち、ワイン単体で飲むよりはしっかりした肉料理などに併せたい味わいだ。この日は息子が帰省していたので、二人でボトル半分以上開けたが、小瓶に残した残りも数日後に飲んだら十分楽しめた。Bel Colle is one of the wineries owned by the Bozio Family Estate. It was established in the 1970s by the Pontegrione brothers and Mr. Giuseppe Priola in the village of Verduno in the Barolo region. Bel Colle was known as a traditional Barolo producer, but in 1980 it came under the Bozio Family Estate umbrella, undergoing reforms such as adopting lutte raisonnée (reduced pesticide farming) and investing in winemaking facilities. In recent years, it has become recognized by many wine critics as a highly capable winery. The vineyard consistently practices hand-harvesting, achieving cultivation of high-quality grapes. Bel Colle’s reputation and quality have rapidly risen following these significant reforms.The wine shows a transparent orange garnet color with slightly brick-colored edges. Its aroma offers black cherry, strawberry, licorice, star anise, clove spices, tobacco, and leather — a pleasant bouquet reflecting its extended aging, though not fully explosive. On the palate, it is a traditionally styled Barolo: concentrated, pure fruit flavors and elegant acidity shine through, but the somewhat sharp tannins stand out, making it a taste best paired with robust meat dishes rather than enjoyed alone.On this occasion, my son was visiting home, and we opened more than half a bottle between us. Even the small amount left in the bottle was still enjoyable a few days later.

東京ぶらり散歩その17～湯島聖堂＆マーチエキュート神田万世橋 Tokyo Stroll 17 – Yushima Seidō & mAAch ecute Kanda Manseibashi
前項の神田明神から日本橋まで歩いた際の写真。神田明神からすぐのところにあるのが、湯島聖堂だ。These photos were taken during my walk from Kanda Myōjin to Nihonbashi.Just a short walk from Kanda Myōjin stands Yushima Seidō.徳川5代将軍綱吉が、それまで上野忍が丘の林羅山の邸内に造営した孔子廟と教育施設を1690年にこの地に移した。In 1690, the fifth Tokugawa shōgun, Tsunayoshi, relocated a Confucian temple and educational facility—originally built within the residence of Hayashi Razan on Shinobugaoka in Ueno—to this very site.教育施設は、1797年委は幕府直轄の学校である昌平坂学問所となり、後の東京大学へとつながる。By 1797, the educational facility had become the Shōheizaka Gakumonjo, a school directly administered by the shogunate, which would later evolve into the University of Tokyo.孔子の立像はかなりの迫力だが、Xperia１VIのカメラだと白っぽくなってしまい、露出が難しい。ニコライ堂などにも立ち寄りたかったが、ややルートから外れるので今回はやめておいた。The imposing statue of Confucius here is truly striking, though my Xperia 1 VI camera had trouble with exposure, making the image come out a bit pale.I had wanted to stop by Nikolai-dō as well, but since it was a little off my route, I decided to skip it this time.湯島聖堂からさらに歩いて、秋葉原を横断した先に万世橋が見えてくる。From Yushima Seidō, I continued on foot, crossing through Akihabara, until I reached Mansei Bridge.1912年に完成した由緒ある赤レンガ造りの万世橋高架橋であるが、その遺構を利用してマーチエキュート神田万世橋というモールが開業した。駅の遺構を利用した内部は超オシャレなのだが、空きテナントが目立ち、すぐ隣の電気街の喧騒を思うと少し寂しい。場所柄、アーティステックな店舗よりも、もっと雑多な店でもよいと思うのだが。This historic red-brick viaduct, completed in 1912, now houses mAAch ecute Kanda Manseibashi, a commercial complex built within the preserved remains of the old station.Inside, the space is wonderfully stylish, making clever use of the station’s structure. However, a number of vacant shops stand out, and compared to the bustling atmosphere of the neighboring Electric Town, the contrast feels a bit lonely. Given the location, I can’t help but think it might suit more eclectic, everyday-style shops rather than purely artsy ones.

ぶらり東京散歩その16～神田祭＠2025 Tokyo Stroll 16 – Kanda Festival 2025
これまで一度も見物したことのなかった神田祭に行ってみようと思い立って出かけみた。神田祭は、東京都千代田区の神田明神で行われる祭礼のこと。「神田明神祭」とも呼ばれ、山王祭、（江東区）深川八幡祭と並んで江戸三大祭の一つとされている。京都の祇園祭、大阪の天神祭と共に日本の三大祭りの一つにも数えられる。I’d never actually gone to see the Kanda Festival before, so this year I decided it was finally time to experience it for myself.The Kanda Festival is the annual celebration of Kanda Myōjin Shrine in Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo. Also known as the Kanda Myōjin Festival, it is counted among the “Three Great Festivals of Edo” along with the Sannō Festival and the Fukagawa Hachiman Festival. It’s also considered one of Japan’s three greatest festivals, alongside Kyoto’s Gion Festival and Osaka’s Tenjin Festival.神田明神は、創建がなる時代にさかのぼるとされる非常に古い神社で、江戸時代の初めに現在地に遷座した。平安時代以降、平将門が祭神として祀られ、江戸の総鎮守として多くの人々の信仰を集めた。Kanda Myōjin itself is a shrine with an extremely long history, said to date back to ancient times. It was relocated to its present site in the early Edo period. Since the Heian era, the warrior Taira no Masakado has been enshrined here, and as the general guardian deity of Edo, the shrine has attracted the devotion of countless people.予想していたとはいえ、境内は凄い人。As expected, the shrine grounds were absolutely packed with people. 立派な山車も陳列されていた。There was even an impressive festival float on display.神幸祭のパレードを見ようと、日本橋まで歩く途中、女みこしに遭遇。On my way toward Nihonbashi to watch the Shinkōsai Parade, I came across a lively women’s mikoshi (portable shrine) procession.日本橋の目抜き通り沿いは見物客でごった返していた。Along Nihonbashi’s main street, the crowds of spectators were even denser.神幸祭とは、三柱の神が乗った鳳輦と神輿を中心とする絢爛豪華な大行列が、氏子の各町会を巡り、町々を祓い清める神田祭で最も注目される神事である。The Shinkōsai is the highlight of the Kanda Festival: a lavish and colorful grand procession centered on hōren (phoenix palanquins) carrying the three enshrined deities, along with mikoshi. The parade tours all the local neighborhoods of the shrine’s parish, purifying each district as it goes.平安時代の衣装をまとった500人ほどの行列が神田明神を出発し、秋葉原の電気街や丸の内・大手町のオフィス街を通って、また神田明神へと戻る。About 500 participants, dressed in Heian-period costumes, depart from Kanda Myōjin, pass through Akihabara’s Electric Town and the office districts of Marunouchi and Ōtemachi, before returning to the shrine.

クロ・ルジャールに並ぶ、というのは言い過ぎと思いますが、いい作り手です。割田さんのソーミュール・シャンピニー『ル・グラン・クロ』 [2019] シャトー・ド・ヴィルヌーヴ前回も紹介した、ギュファンエナンがバルザックで作る白、ボルドー・ブラン・セ・ド・セック [2022] シャトー・クロジオウメムラさんよりヒルツベルガーのグリューナー・フェルトリーナー シュピッツ シュタインフェーダー [2023]。スマラクトもありますが、こちらはリーズナブルです当たればめっけもの感覚ですかね。ルー・デュモン レア・セレクション サントネイ・ルージュ [1996]。ウメムラさんで４K台です同じくウメムラさんよりドメーヌ・ド・ラルロのニュイ・サン・ジョルジュ 1er クロ・デ・フォレ・サン・ジョルジュ [2021]すごくクラシックな作り手というイメージがあります。ミシェル・ラファルジュ ヴォルネイ 1er クロ・デュ・シャトー デ・デュック [2018]ウメムラさんよりでもって、これは知りませんでした。ミシェル・ラファルジュが作るクリュ・ボジョレー。フルーリー クロ・ヴェルネ [2020](ラファルジュ・ヴィアル)これ、値段間違ってないでしょうか？？かわばたさんよりアルヌー・ラショーの20ブルゴーニュ・ピノ・ファンマル源さんよりセラファン各年代アイテムXperia１VIを購入したので、最近はミラーレスを持ち歩かず、もっぱらスマホで写真を撮ってますが、望遠が使えるようになったこと以外、Xperia Pro-iとの差は微妙、というか、標準の広角レンズに関してはPro-iの方がよかったかなと思う場面も少なくありません。Xperia１VIのカメラは逆光に弱いのと白飛びしやすいのが（かなり）難点かと思います。

バッグに正露丸の臭いが染みついてしまった！ My Bag Smells Like Seirogan! How Did This Happen?
穴があったら入りたいとはこのことである。先日の英会話のレッスンのとき、部屋の中が妙に正露丸臭くて、誰かがレッスン前に正露丸を飲んだのかな、などと漠然と思っていたが、犯人は私だった。帰宅後、ふと気になって、リュックに入れて持ち歩いているポーチを取り出してみたら、これが信じられないほど強烈な正露丸の臭いを発しているのだ。ポーチの中には、痛み止めや胃薬などの常備薬や絆創膏、それにスマホケーブルなどが入っている。改めて確認したところ、その中の「正露丸糖衣」（注：丸薬ではない！）のアルミシートが一部孔が開いていて、なおかつその糖衣錠にヒビが入っていた。どこかでぶつけてしまったのかもしれないが、それにしても、例の黒い丸薬ならともかく、まさか糖衣錠がこんなに臭いを発するとは思っていなかったので、虚を突かれた形になってしまった。正露丸を常用しているわけではないが、ここぞという腹痛時には、本当に効くと思っているので、できれば今後も持ち歩きたい。こうしたケースに備えて、もっと密閉できる容器に入れておかねばならないということだろう。それはそうと、臭いの染みついてしまったポーチ、なんとかならないかと調べてみたら、以下のような記事を見つけた。同じような悩みを抱く人は少なくないのかもしれない（笑）。https://bloghana.xyz/2019/12/30/seirogan/【検証】カバンについた正露丸のニオイは消せる！8種類の方法で消臭実験＃私の場合は、結局1週間ほど陰干ししておいたら、無事臭いはなくなった。***********************************I Could Just Crawl into a Hole: My Bag Smelled Like Seirogan!During my recent English conversation lesson, the room suddenly smelled strongly of Seirogan. Inside the pouch, I keep painkillers, stomach medicine, band-aids, and some smartphone cables.Upon closer inspection, I found that the aluminum sheet packaging of my Seirogan coated pills (not the classic black pills!) was partially torn, and the pills themselves were cracked. Maybe they got bumped somewhere, but I never expected the coated pills to smell so strongly—definitely caught me off guard.Although I’m not a frequent user of Seirogan, I truly believe it works wonders when I have stomach pain, so I want to keep carrying it. This means I need to store it in a more airtight container to prevent this happening again.By the way, I searched for ways to get rid of the smell from the pouch and found this interesting article. ぶらり東京散歩その15～チームラボ・ボーダーレス@麻布台ヒルズ Tokyo Stroll #15 – teamLab Borderless @ Azabudai Hills
連休中日の５月２日（金）、麻布台ヒルズのチームラボ・ボーダーレスに行ってみた。チームラボは豊洲（チームラボ・プラネッツ）にもある。以前はお台場にもあったが、お台場がクローズして2023年にこちらの麻布台ヒルズのチームラボ・ボーダーレスがオープンした。カレンダー上は平日とあって、それほど混雑してはいなかったが、客の70％ぐらいは外国人観光客だった。On May 2nd, the middle day of the Golden Week holidays, I visited teamLab Borderless at Azabudai Hills.teamLab also has a location in Toyosu called teamLab Planets. They used to have one in Odaiba as well, but that closed, and in 2023 the Azabudai Hills location opened in its place.Since it was a weekday on the calendar, it wasn’t very crowded. However, about 70% of the visitors seemed to be foreign tourists.4千円超の入場料は決して安くはないが、これだけの独特な体験はなかなかできるものではないし、スタッフのオペレーションが総じてよかったこともあって、結構な混雑だったにもかかわらず、楽しく館内を回ることができた。一度入場してしまえば長く居座っても構わないので、雨の日の行先としてもうってつけだった。行く価値はあるかと聞かれれば、間違いなく、一度は行く価値はあると答えるが、一度見てしまうと「おなかいっぱい」という感じで、そう頻繁に再訪したくなるものでもないので、リピーターをどのように確保するかが、運営側にとっては課題になってくるかもしれない。それと、麻布台ヒルズについては、入居しているのがバブル時代を思い出すようなスノッブな店ばかりで、各棟の連絡ルートも不便で、まったく魅力的には思えなかった。機会があれば、豊洲のチームラボ・プラネッツにも行ってみようと思う。The admission fee, which is over 4,000 yen, is by no means cheap. However, experiences like this are quite rare, and thanks to the generally excellent staff operations, I was able to enjoy exploring the venue despite the considerable crowd. Once inside, you can stay as long as you like, making it an ideal destination for a rainy day.If asked whether it’s worth visiting, I would definitely say yes — it’s worth going at least once. However, after seeing it once, you might feel “fully satisfied” and not eager to revisit frequently. This could pose a challenge for the operators in terms of securing repeat visitors.As for Azabudai Hills itself, the shops there felt quite snobbish, reminiscent of the bubble economy era, and the routes connecting each building were inconvenient. Overall, I didn’t find the place particularly appealing.If I get the chance, I’d like to visit teamLab Planets in Toyosu as well.

ラベルは洒落ているが…マコン・ペロンヌ （ドメーヌ・ビシェロン） Cool Label, But... Macon-Peronne from Domaine Bicheron
グラスに注ぐと、思いのほか麦わら色方向に振れたイエローの色調。香りはよく熟したグレープフルーツや黄桃、マロン、それにハーブや黄色い花などのわりと南方系のワインを想起させるもので、やや国籍不明感がある。飲んでみると、酸はしっかりしているのでバランスは悪くないが、フレッシュ感に欠けるのと、やや後半にエグ味というか雑味が感じられるのがマイナスか。初日の印象は悪いものでなかったが、小瓶に残した二日目は果実味が凹んで砂糖水のようなシャバい味わいになってしまった。コンディション的にも今一つだったのかもしれない。…と書いたが、小瓶に残したもう片方を5日後ぐらいに開けたところ、色合いこそ麦わらっぽく変色していたが、２日目と大して変わらないレベルで飲むことができた。最近は１本を3日に分けて飲むことが多いが、３日連続の飲酒はきついので、こうしてしばらく間をあけてもそれありの状態を保ってくれているものはありがたい。When poured into the glass, the wine showed a yellow hue leaning more toward straw color than I expected. However, it lacked freshness, and there was a slight bitterness or off-flavor toward the finish, which detracted a bit. The first day’s impression was not bad at all, but the second day, after leaving half a bottle, the fruitiness had faded and it tasted watery and sugary. The condition might not have been ideal.That said, I opened the other half bottle about five days later. Although the color had changed to a straw-like tint, it was still drinkable at about the same level as on day two.Lately, I tend to drink a bottle over three days, but drinking three days in a row can be tough. So I appreciate when the wine maintains a decent state even after a few days’ break.

山本由伸投手について、私はちょうど昨年の今の時期、↓のような記事を書いた。どうやらこの記事がどこかにリンクされているようで、いまだに当ブログの「よく読まれる記事」に登場する。山本由伸投手の投球を見ていて思ったこと（備忘録）ある程度的を得ていたこともあれば、全然的ハズレだったこともあるが、結果的に山本投手が当時の課題を克服して、メジャーでも最上級の投手のひとりと認められつつあるのは素直に嬉しい。単純にメジャーの環境に慣れたというだけではなくて、きっと、本人も相当努力と研究を重ねた結果だと思う。一方で、昨年の山本投手以上に深刻なのが、現在の佐々木朗希投手のおかれた状況だ。とにかく彼の生命線であるはずの速球が走らない。スピードガン表示は概ね150㎞～155㎞前後、加えてボールの回転数はメジャーの先発投手の中でもワーストレベルだという。打者からボールが見やすいのか、空振りをなかなかとれない。それに加えてフォークのコントロールがままならないから、ストレートを狙い撃ちされる。佐々木投手と言えば、かつてNPBでの2試合連続完全試合（未遂）や常時160㎞のストレートを投げていた時期の鮮烈な記憶があるし、実際、オリックスの山本投手とのエース対決でも投げ勝ったりしていた。レベルの高いメジャーでいきなり日本時代のようにうまくいくとは思っていなかったが、ここまで苦戦するのは少々予想外だった（私は、数試合鮮烈な印象を残し、故障してしばらく離脱したあと、また戻るといった繰り返しになると思っていた）。ネットで見られる意見としては、・メジャーの滑るボールと硬いマウンドにまだ慣れていない。・彼はまだ23歳の育成段階の投手。長い目でみてやるべき。・メジャーではもう一つ球種を覚えないと成功は難しいのでは。・スライダーを覚えたことが球速の低下につながったのではないか。・肩や肘の不安があって、それをかばってフォームが崩れているのではないか。・1年を通じて投げ切った経験がない。基礎体力をつけないと通用しないのでは。・速球投手としてはすでにピークアウトしているのでは。といったものが主流だ。話をややこしくしているのは、「メジャーの環境に慣れていない（から実力を発揮できない）」ことと「昨年から速球のスピードが落ちている（それがまだ元に戻っていない）」という２つの要素が絡んでいることだ。不思議なのは、球速の低下もさることながら、メジャー最低クラスとまで揶揄されるストレートの回転数についてだ。日本時代の佐々木投手のストレートの回転数は2,450rpmを計測し、NPBの平均値（2,200～2,300rpm）より上だったとのこと。ボールが滑るからといって、ここまで落ちてしまうものだろうか。（たとえば今永投手などはMLBに来た今でも回転数の多いストレートが生命線となっている。）もうひとつ不思議なのは、フォークボールの質である。今の彼のフォークは極端に回転数の少なく遅いナックルボールのようなフォークだという。それ自体「魔球」と呼んでよいものだそうだが、速球との球速差があるため、見極められやすく、打者はフォークを捨ててストレートを待つというスタイルになりがちだ。日本時代の彼は、150kmに迫る高速フォークが持ち味だったが、こうした高速フォークも今は投げられなくなってしまったということなのだろうか？彼が日本時代に計測した160㎞超という数字は、他のピッチャーのように、どこかの球場で1球だけ記録したというものでなく、2023年当時などは、ほぼ常時160㎞前後のストレートを投げていた。2023年当時の佐々木投手は、ストレートの球速、回転数も含め、メジャーでもトップランクの速球投手（のはず）だったのだ（だからメジャー各球団があれだけの争奪戦を繰り広げた）。2024年になって球速が落ちて、口さがないファンは、「メジャーに行くときに備えて肩を温存しているのでは？」、「シーズンを通して故障せずに投げられるよう、セーブしているのでは？」などと憶測をしていた。しかし、佐々木投手サイドがメジャー球団を選考するにあたって、各球団に「速球のスピードを回復させるための処方箋」を宿題に出していたという。このことから、昨年時点で、佐々木投手は速球のスピードをセーブしていたのではなく、物理的に球速を出せなくなっていたことがわかる。それに加えて、メジャーの慣れないボールとマウンドとで、制球や変化球のコマンドまでも乱れた結果、今のような八方塞がりの状態になっているということなのだと思う。往年のメジャーのスター選手も疑問を呈している。https://www.tokyo-sports.co.jp/articles/-/344136佐々木朗希の球速減退に元スター選手が疑念「ＷＢＣのスピードガンは…」「ケガをしているのかも」私は日本時代の佐々木投手をそれほど追いかけていたわけではないので、あまり知ったようなことは書けないが、素人なりの印象としては、フォームがなんというか、油が切れかかった機械のようなギシギシとした感じがして、腕や肩の可動域も減っているような印象を受ける。完全試合を達成したころのフォームは大振りながらもっとしなるような感じがあった。公にあまり大きな故障をしていないように言われている佐々木投手だが、ロッテ時代しばしば休んでいた。なかには、それを「ズル休み」だと揶揄する向きもあったが、私はむしろ半ば慢性的に肩か肘に不安があるのではないかと思っていた。画像撮影上出てくるような所見ではないが、投げていて不安があるから、本人もいつしかそれを庇うようなフォームになって、それが球速が出ない原因になっているのではないかと。そう思って、ネットであらためて検索して、以下のようなスポーツ報知の記述を見つけた。この記事、あまり話題になっていないが、かなり重大なことが書かれていると思う。https://hochi.news/articles/20250122-OHT1T51240.html?page=1佐々木朗希、プロ１年目の右肘負傷が早期メジャー移籍の理由と明かす「いつ投げられなくなるというか」プロ１年目の２０２０年の開幕前、シート打撃で負傷した。「右肘の肉離れをしてリハビリをしていたんですけど、なかなか治りが悪くて」。回復は思わしくなく、病院を何か所もまわった。従来のフォームでは痛みで投げられず、「（肘のじん帯を再建する）トミー・ジョン手術をした方がいい」と言う医師もいた。（中略）痛みの原因はその後に判明。肩周りのコンディションが悪く、それが原因で神経の緊張が強くなり、肘の内側に痛みが出ており、じん帯には全く異常はなかったことが放送で伝えられた。だが、「たった一球で（選手生命が）覆されてしまう。そういう可能性もあるんだなっていうことは本当に感じましたし、この先どうなるかわからない中で、２年待つというよりも、今のタイミングでメジャー挑戦して成長していくってのがベストかな」とケガをしたことが移籍を決断する要素となったと語った。この説明だとイマイチよくわからないが、そのよくわからない肩肘の不調が慢性化しているのが原因なのではないかと私は思う。おそらく、より滑りやすく握力を必要とするメジャーのボールを操らねばならないことで、肘肩にさらに負担がかかっているのではないだろうか。そして、それをかばうようなフォームがいつしか定着してしまい、球速だけでなく、速球の質が変わってしまったのではないかと。肩のコンディションが万全でなければ、投げ込んで矯正するということもしずらい。筋トレなどのトレーニングもリスクが伴うだろう。サボっているのではなく、積極的に鍛えられないという状態なのかもしれない。こうした事例で、私が思い出すのは、元ヤクルトの伊藤智仁投手のことだ。デビュー初年度の伊藤投手のスライダーは本当にすごかった。これまで長い間プロ野球を見てきた中で、間違いなく5本の指に入る投手だった。しかし、彼もその後は肩のコンディションとの闘いで、全盛期は短かった。佐々木投手の場合も、「完全試合をやったころの彼は凄かった」とか「結局あの頃がピークだったね。」などと昔を懐かしむような語られ方をするようになってしまうのは忍びない。どうにかして、2年前までの速球を取り戻してもらいたいものだが、その道筋というか処方箋が私にはわからない。※この記事を書いた１週間後、佐々木投手は「肩のインピンジメント症候群」でIL入りした。単に痛みがとれても、今のままでは活躍は難しいと思うので、今季は急がず、じっくり往年のフォームを取り戻すなり、ツーシームなどの新球種をマスターするなりして、来期に備えてほしいと思う。＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊Regarding Yoshinobu Yamamoto, I happened to write an article around this time last year like the one below.Apparently, this piece has been linked somewhere, as it still regularly appears in my blog’s “Most Read Articles” list.My Impressions While Watching Yoshinobu Yamamoto Pitch (Memo)Some of my observations at the time were on target, others completely missed the mark. Still, I’m genuinely happy to see that Yamamoto has overcome the issues he faced back then and is now recognized as one of the very best pitchers in the majors. I believe this is not simply a matter of him adjusting to the MLB environment—it must also be the result of tremendous effort and study on his part.By contrast, the situation facing Roki Sasaki right now is even more concerning than Yamamoto’s was last year.His fastball—supposed to be his lifeline—isn’t firing. The radar gun reads mostly between 150–155 km/h (93–96 mph), and the spin rate is reportedly among the very worst for MLB starters. Batters seem to pick up the ball well, and he’s having a hard time generating swings and misses. On top of that, his forkball control is shaky, so hitters can sit on the fastball.Sasaki is remembered for his spectacular run in NPB, with two consecutive perfect games (one incomplete) and a fastball that regularly hit 160 km/h (99 mph). He even outdueled Yamamoto in an ace-versus-ace showdown. I never expected him to instantly dominate MLB as he did in Japan, but I didn’t foresee this level of struggle either. This suggests that even last year, it wasn’t about holding back—he was physically unable to reach his previous speeds. Combined with unfamiliar MLB balls and mounds, his command of both fastball and off-speed pitches has unraveled, leaving him in his current predicament.Even former MLB stars are raising questions:Former MLB Star Questions Sasaki’s Velocity Drop: “Was the WBC Radar Gun Accurate?” “Maybe He’s Injured”I didn’t follow Sasaki’s NPB career all that closely, so I can’t speak as an expert, but my amateur impression is that his delivery now looks stiff—almost like a machine running without lubrication—and his shoulder and arm range of motion seem reduced. When he pitched his perfect game, his motion was looser and more fluid, with greater whip.Though he’s never been reported as having a major injury, he frequently rested during his time with the Chiba Lotte Marines. Some critics mocked him for “slacking off,” but I’ve long suspected he’s had chronic shoulder or elbow concerns. Even without clear imaging evidence, if he feels discomfort while pitching, it’s natural for him to subconsciously alter his mechanics, which could explain the drop in velocity.In searching online, I found this passage from Sports Hochi, which I think is highly significant but hasn’t gotten much attention:Sasaki Reveals Rookie-Year Elbow Injury as Factor in Early MLB Move: “I Never Knew When I Might Not Be Able to Pitch”In his rookie season of 2020, before Opening Day, he was injured during a simulated game. “I had a muscle strain in my right elbow and went through rehab, but the recovery was slow,” he said. He visited numerous hospitals, and at one point a doctor even recommended Tommy John surgery because he could no longer pitch pain-free with his original delivery.The true cause was later discovered: poor shoulder condition had increased nerve tension, resulting in pain on the inside of his elbow, though the ligament itself was completely fine. Still, “I realized that just one pitch could end my career. With that uncertainty, I felt it was best to challenge MLB now rather than wait two years,” Sasaki explained, citing the injury as a factor in his decision to move.The explanation is somewhat vague, but I suspect this shoulder/elbow issue has become chronic. MLB’s slicker ball requires a firmer grip, which could be putting even more strain on those areas. Over time, a protective delivery may have become ingrained, altering not just his velocity but also the quality of his fastball.If the shoulder isn’t 100%, it’s hard to simply “pitch through it” to fix mechanics, and strength training also carries risk. It might not be a case of slacking off—rather, he may be physically unable to train aggressively.This situation reminds me of former Yakult ace Tomohito Ito. His slider in his debut season was one of the best I’ve ever seen in decades of following pro baseball, easily top five. But shoulder problems cut short his prime. I would hate for Sasaki to become someone fans talk about in the past tense—“He was amazing back when he threw that perfect game,” “That was his peak.” I truly hope he can somehow regain the fastball he had two years ago, though I don’t know the exact path or prescription to make that happen.Postscript: One week after I wrote this article, Sasaki was placed on the injured list with shoulder impingement syndrome. Even if the pain subsides, I think it will be difficult for him to succeed without making adjustments. I hope he takes his time this season—either restoring his old delivery or mastering a new pitch like a two-seamer—so he can come back strong next year.

https://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/szwine/diary/202504140000/自宅で尻もちをついて大惨事…その1https://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/szwine/diary/202504160000/自宅で尻もちをついて大惨事…その２https://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/szwine/diary/202504220000/自宅で尻もちをついて大惨事…その３さて、４月12日に尻餅をついてひどい打撲になってしまったことは何度か書いてきた。その後、GWに方々に出かけたりしているので、すっかり良くなったと思われるかもしれないが、実はまだまだなのである。臀部にできたテニスボール大の血腫はやや小さく、かつ柔らかくなってきているものの、まだかなりのボリュームがある。また、それがだんだんと下に落ちてきているのか、左ももの外側にも膨らみがある。座っていて痛いということはあまりなくなり、電車でも席が空けば座っているが、夜ずっとあおむけで寝ていると少し臀部が痛くなってくることがある。そんなわけで、念のため、GWの合間に職場のそばの整形外科を受診した。症状自体が心配というより、どのように予後を過ごせばよいのか聞いておきたかったからだ。今回は前回と異なる女医さんで、ズボンを脱いで患部を見せるまではしなかったが、血腫の部分を触診するなり、「ああ、まだけっこう大きいですね～。」「血腫が消えるまではまだかなり時間がかかりますよ。半年ぐらいかかるかもしれない。」「小さくなってくると、今度は皮膚の部分がしぼんだようになってきます。完全に元に戻るのには数年かかるかもしれませんね。」とのことで、内心「えぇ～、そんなに？！」と思ったものの、医師の声の調子が明るい感じだったので、きっとそれほど心配しなくてよいのだろうと安心した。「冷やしたり温めたりとかしなくてよいですか？」「この段階では普通に生活していて構いませんね。」「圧迫していたほうがよいとか、そういうことはありますか？」「再びぶつけたりしないようにして、あとは普通に過ごしてください。」「ぶつけるとよくないんですか？」「血腫がまた大きくなってしまいますからね。」とまあ、こんなやりとりで、要するにあまり気にせず時間が経つのを待つしかないとのことだったが、日常の留意点などを聞けて安心した。なんだかんだで初日の救急クリニックも含めて、ここまで４回病院を受診したので、ちょっと大げさかと思いつつ、モンベルの傷害保険を申請すべく、書類を取り寄せることにした。手術したわけでも入院したわけでもないので、通院１日あたり1000円しか出ないが、それでもなにも出ないよりはマシだからだ。そんあわけで、保険の手続きなども含めて、また頃合いを見て続報を報告したい。Following Up on My Big Butt Injury from April 12I’ve written several times about the bad bruise I got from falling on my butt on April 12. You might think it’s all healed up since I’ve been out and about during Golden Week, but actually, it’s still not quite better.The tennis ball-sized hematoma on my buttocks has gotten a bit smaller and softer, but there’s still quite a bit of volume left. It also seems to be gradually shifting downward, as there’s a noticeable swelling on the outside of my left thigh now.Sitting down doesn’t hurt as much anymore, and I do take a seat on the train when one is available. However, if I lie on my back all night, my buttocks sometimes start to ache a little.So, just to be safe, I visited an orthopedic doctor near my workplace during Golden Week. I wasn’t so much worried about the symptoms themselves, but wanted to ask how I should manage the recovery.This time, a different female doctor saw me. I didn’t have to take off my pants for an examination, but as soon as she palpated the hematoma area, she said, “Oh, it’s still quite large.”She explained, “It will take a lot of time for the hematoma to disappear—maybe up to six months. As it shrinks, the skin in that area will look a bit sunken. It might take several years to fully return to normal.”I was thinking, “Really? That long?!” inside, but her cheerful tone reassured me that it wasn’t anything too serious.I asked if I should be applying ice or heat, and she said, “At this stage, you can just live normally.”I also asked if I should be applying pressure to the area. She said, “Just avoid hitting it again, and otherwise live your life as usual.”When I asked why hitting it again would be bad, she explained, “Because the hematoma would get bigger again.”So basically, the only thing to do is wait it out without worrying too much. But hearing these precautions made me feel more at ease.All told, including the initial emergency clinic visit, I’ve been to the hospital four times now. It might sound a bit dramatic, but I’m planning to file a claim with Montbell’s injury insurance. Since I neither had surgery nor was hospitalized, it only covers ¥1,000 per outpatient visit, but it’s better than nothing.I’ll report back with updates, including on the insurance process, when the time is right.

東京ぶらり散歩その14～根津神社から谷中銀座へ Tokyo Stroll #14 – From Nezu Shrine to Yanaka Ginza
GW初日の4月26日（土）、午前中英会話（ワンコイングリッシュ）に行ったあと、家族と合流して、根津神社につつじを見に行った。ところが、何やら雲行きがおかしい。「雨雲レーダー」によると、ドンピシャの時間で雨が降り始めるようだった。On April 26th, the first day of Golden Week, I went to my weekly English lesson at One Coin English in the morning. After that, I met up with my family and headed to Nezu Shrine to see the azaleas. However, the weather started to look suspicious. According to the rain cloud radar, it was going to rain right on time.鳥居をくぐった時点ではまだ天気はもっていたが、やがて空が暗くなり、バケツをひっくり返したような土砂降りになった。When we passed through the torii gate, the weather was still holding up, but soon the sky darkened and it poured like someone had turned over a bucket of water.雨宿りをすること30分余、ようやく晴れ間が見えてきたので、急ぎ足で園内を回ることにした。We waited out the rain for about 30 minutes, and when a break in the clouds appeared, we quickly toured the garden.写真には写っていないが、虹がかかっていた。Although you can’t see it in the photos, there was a rainbow!つつじは満開でこそなかったが、十分楽しめる咲きっぷりだった。The azaleas were not in full bloom but were still quite beautiful and enjoyable.宝永３年（1706）完成した権現造りの本殿・幣殿・拝殿・唐門・西門・透塀・楼門が欠けずに現存し、国の重要文化財に指定されている。つつじを抜きにしても、大変由緒ある神社だ。Nezu Shrine is very historic, with the main hall, offering hall, Karamon gate, west gate, and other buildings built in the Gongen-zukuri style completed in 1706 (Hoei 3). All these structures are designated Important Cultural Properties of Japan. Even without the flowers, it is a significant shrine.根津神社の後は、歩いて谷中銀座商店街へ。再び雨が降るという予報もあったが、なんとか天気は大丈夫だった。After Nezu Shrine, we walked to Yanaka Ginza shopping street. Although rain was forecast again, the weather held up.歩いて腹が減ったということで、商店街の蕎麦屋「畔上」に入る。中途半端な時間だったせいか、店内はガラガラだった。Walking made us hungry, so we stopped at a soba restaurant called Azue in the shopping street. 東京ぶらり散歩その13～丸の内静嘉文庫堂美術館とKITTE Tokyo Stroll #13 – Seikabunko Art Museum in Marunouchi and KITTE
スケジュールが前後するが、「日本橋クルーズ」を楽しんだ日の午前中、丸の内の「静嘉堂文庫美術館」に行った。静嘉堂文庫は三菱第二代社長岩崎弥之助と小弥太の親子２代が集めた東洋の古美術品を所蔵する美術館。以前は世田谷区の岡本にあったのだが、2022年に丸の内に移転していた。On the morning of the day I enjoyed the Nihonbashi cruise, I visited the Seikado Bunko Art Museum in Marunouchi.The Seikado Bunko houses a collection of East Asian antiques gathered by two generations of the Mitsubishi family: Yanosuke and Koyata Iwasaki, the first and second presidents. It displays academic specimens from the University of Tokyo’s museum.その展示量たるやまさに圧巻。The sheer volume of exhibits is truly impressive.入場料金は無料なので、興味がある人はもちろん、あまり興味がない人も一度は訪れてみる価値があると思う。Admission is free, so I highly recommend it not only to those interested in science and culture, but also to casual visitors.そんなわけで、午後の日本橋クルーズと合わせて、充実した一日だった。All in all, combined with the afternoon Nihonbashi cruise, it was a very fulfilling day.

スマホ買い替え（その３）データ移行とXperia１VI使い勝手 Replacing My Smartphone (Part 3) — Data Transfer and Using the Xperia 1 VI
https://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/szwine/diary/202505060000/スマホ買い替え（その２）〜結局Xperia１VIの中古を購入 というわけで、GW前に新しいスマホXpearia1VIを購入したわけだが。今回特に気を使ったのは、データの移行だった。というのも、気づけばここ数年でデジタル会員証の類が劇的に増えて、そのすべてのIDとパスをきちんと控えていたわけでないからだ（汗）。＊まず、これはヤバいなぁと思ったのは、「マイナポータル」だ。機種変更の際、古い端末で「スマホ用電子証明書」に登録している場合、こちらをまず失効させ、新しい端末で新たに登録しなおさなければならない。これらの手続き方法はデジタル庁のマニュアルを参照できるのだが、これがまたいかにもお役所の仕事らしく、「わかりやすいようでわかりずらい」のである。また、電子利用証明書には、「利用者証明用電子証明書」と「署名用電子証明書」の2種類あるということも、今回の作業で初めて知った。移行作業自体は大した手間ではなかったのだが、このようにそもそもの仕組み自体がわかりずらいので、非常にストレスがたまった。＊次に気を使ったのが、「LINE」と「SUICA」。どちらも過去の機種変更で痛い思いをしているからだ。しかし、これらについては、アプリ自体の改善も進んでいるのか、それほどストレスを感じずに移行させることができた。なお、私の場合、SUICA以外にEDYにもいくらか残額が残っていた（実質的に全く使っていないのだが）ので、こちらの移行手続きもしなければならなかった。これら「おさいふケータイ」アプリは、ひとつずつ丁寧に消しておかないと、旧端末を売りに出すときにショップに買い取ってもらえないので、注意が必要だ。＊銀行アプリや証券アプリの中には、ワンタイムパスワードを再設定しなければならなかったり、「信頼できる端末」の設定を変えなければならないアプリもあった。＊ドトールとかスタバとか、タリーズなど、それぞれのiDのカフェのアプリにチャージしてあったので、これらの移行も必要だった（とはいえ、難しいものではなかった。）＊他にもいろいろなショップの会員証をアプリに変更していたのだが、いくつかの会員証のIDとパスがわからず、結局面倒になって移行しなかったアプリもあった。＊さらに私の場合、ローカルのストレージにも音楽ファイル（100ＧＢ超）を入れているので、こちらに移行にひどく時間がかかった。データの移行は、Googleのツールを使ってもできるが、私の場合、前述のようにとにかくデータ量が大きかったので、有線で新旧スマホを繋いで、「Xperia Transfer」という専用アプリで移行させた。それでも移行には1時間以上かかった。また、アプリによっては、設定が引き継がれないものがあるので、それらの設定にも時間を要した。結局ほぼ丸一日かかってどうにか仕上がった。左が旧端末のXperia Pro-i。画面のアスペクト比が21：9の縦長から19.5:9に変更された。解像度は４KからHD＋にダウングレードとなったが、私の目では特にネガは感じられず、むしろバッテリーがよく保つようになったほうが嬉しい。21：9の縦長サイズに長年慣れ親しんでいたせいか、ほんの数ミリとはいえ、横幅が広がって思いのほか持ちずらさを感じている。まあこれは慣れるしかないのだろう。新しいスマホに変えて、なによりありがたいのは「バッテリがよく保つ」ことだ。旧端末は朝満充電にしていても、日中デスクで充電しないと心もとなかったし、モバイルバッテリーは手放せなかった。新端末については、「いたわり充電」でMAX80％に留めているが、かなり使い込んだなぁという日でも就寝前の時点でおおむね30％以上は残っている。満充電にしておけば、おそらく丸２日保つと思われる。それ以外にも、画面の明るさとか、カメラの使い勝手とか、Xperia１ Pro-iからの進化は小さくないと実感しているが、正直、ちょっと期待外れだった部分もある。これらについては、もう少し使い込んだところで改めてレポートしたい。翌週、「じゃんぱら」の渋谷店にXperia Pro-iを売却しに行った。売却を急いだ理由は、GWが明けて新型が発表されると、中古の販売価格、買い取り価格ともに多少の値崩れが予想されるからだ。購入直後にガラスフィルムを貼り、常時ケースをつけて、丁寧に使っていたにも関わらず、査定は「全般に細かい傷がある」とのこと。結局買い取り額は52500円だった。同じ店でアイパッドを売ったときは、即満額評価だったものだが、やはりアンドロイド端末の下取り・買取りはシブイのかもしれない。*****************************************So, I purchased the new Xperia 1 VI just before Golden Week. This time, I was especially careful about transferring my data. Over the past few years, the number of digital membership cards and IDs I use has increased dramatically, and I hadn’t properly recorded all the IDs and passwords (sweat).First off, what I found really troublesome was “My Number Portal” (Myna Portal).When switching devices, if you have a smartphone electronic certificate registered on the old device, you must first revoke it there, then register a new one on the new device. Although there is a manual by the Digital Agency explaining the procedure, it’s typical government work — “clear yet confusing.” Also, I only learned through this process that there are actually two types of electronic certificates: one for user identification and another for digital signatures. The transfer itself wasn’t very complicated, but the system as a whole is so hard to understand that it was very frustrating.Next, I was cautious with LINE and SUICA because I had painful experiences transferring these in the past. However, this time, maybe due to improvements in the apps themselves, the migration went quite smoothly without much stress.Also, I had some balance left on Edy besides SUICA (although I hardly used it), so I had to handle transferring that too. With these “Osaifu-Keitai” wallet apps, you must carefully delete each one before selling your old phone, otherwise the shop may refuse to buy it.Some banking and securities apps required resetting one-time passwords or changing “trusted device” settings.I also had to transfer balances on various café apps for iD payments, like Doutor, Starbucks, and Tully’s. That wasn’t particularly difficult, though.I had switched many shop membership cards to apps, but for some of them I forgot the IDs and passwords, so I ended up not transferring those apps because it was too troublesome.Furthermore, I keep music files (over 100 GB) on local storage, which took an extremely long time to transfer.Although Google’s transfer tool can do most of this, because of the huge amount of data, I connected the old and new phones with a cable and used Sony’s dedicated app “Xperia Transfer.” Even then, it took over an hour to complete. Some apps don’t retain their settings on transfer, so I had to spend extra time configuring them. All in all, it took almost a full day to finish everything.The left phone in the photo is my old Xperia Pro-i. The screen aspect ratio changed from the tall 21:9 to 19.5:9. The resolution dropped from 4K to HD+, but I don’t notice any negative impact, and I’m actually happier that the battery lasts much longer now.I was so used to the tall 21:9 screen that even a few millimeters wider feels surprisingly uncomfortable to hold. Well, I guess I just have to get used to it.What I appreciate most about the new phone is how long the battery lasts. Even when fully charged in the morning, my old phone needed charging at my desk during the day, and I always had to carry a mobile battery pack. With the new phone, I use the “battery care” setting that limits charge to 80%, yet even on heavy-use days, I usually have over 30% left before bed. If fully charged, I think it can last about two full days.I also feel significant improvements in screen brightness and camera usability compared to the Xperia 1 Pro-i. However, to be honest, there are some areas where it fell a bit short of my expectations. I’ll report on those after using it a bit more.The following week, I went to the “Janpara” store in Shibuya to sell my Xperia Pro-i. I wanted to sell it quickly because with the new model announcement after Golden Week, both used selling and buying prices were expected to drop somewhat.Despite always using a glass screen protector and a case carefully, the assessment noted “overall minor scratches.” In the end, I got 52,500 yen for it. When I sold my iPad at the same store, it was immediately appraised at full price, so maybe Android devices just don’t fetch as good resale value.

スマホ買い替え（その２）〜結局Xperia１VIの中古を購入 eplacing My Smartphone (Part 2) — Ended Up Getting a Used Xperia 1 VI
https://plaza.rakuten.co.jp/szwine/diary/202504250000/スマホ買い替え（その1）～アイフォンにしようかと悩むも…少し間が開いてしまったが、↑のエントリーの続きである。愛用していたXperia Pro-iのバッテリが弱ってきたことに加え、そもそも使っていたスマホがセキュリティアップデートの対象からも外れてしまったことから、少し早めのタイミングではあったが、新たにスマホを買い替えることにした。下取り額の高さやトランプ関税による市場の先行きなどを考えれば、候補はアイフォン一択となるべきところだったが、いくつかのAndroidアプリを使い続けたいこと、私用のアップルIDがカミサンに占拠？されていること、業務用で既にアイフォンを使用していることなどから、結局またXperiaを購入することにした。現在のXperia の最新モデルはXperia１VI（マーク６）。といってもリリースからほぼ１年経過しており、GW明けには1VIIが発表される予定だ。であれば、ここは最新モデルのリリースを待つのがセオリーだろう。しかし、このあと発表される１VIIをリリース直後に購入するという選択肢は私にはなかった。理由は予想されるリリース価格がは20万円前後と、「私にはあまりにも高価すぎる」からだ。そもそも現行モデルの１VIにしても、ソニーストアの価格は（折にふれてキャッシュバックなどがあるとはいえ）定価19万弱と非常に高価。値下げやキャンペーンがなければとても手が出ない。一般に新モデルの発売が近づくと（もしくは発売されると）旧モデルは値下げされることが多いので、今回はそれを狙うことにしたのだが、GWが近づいても値下げの兆候はみられないどころか、いくつかの色やモデルは早々に終売になってしまった。これはマズイなぁと思い、ターゲットを中古に変えることにした。たまたま私がよく利用する中古ショップの広告が目に止まったので、調べてみると、程度の差こそあれ、概ね12〜15万ぐらいのレンジで入手できそうだった。発売後１年弱とあって、フツーに使用していれば、バッテリの摩耗はそれほど進んでいないと思われる。１VIの場合、４年のセキュリティアップデートが約束されているので、１年後の今購入しても、とりあえず３年間はセキュリティアップデートを受けられる。この先３年であれば、丁寧に使えばバッテリーも保つだろう（と思いたい）。中古購入といっても、今回はかなり高額な買い物になるので、今回はオンラインショップでの購入でなく、実物を手に取って確認することにした。まあそれでも、以前の持ち主がどのような使い方をしていたかは「神のみぞ知る」なのだが・・。ということで、まずは職場の近所の「じゃんぱら」にあった「12GB /256GBブラック」13.5万の現物を見に行った。ネットショップでの評価は「A」、「軽くキズがある」とのことだったが、充電端子の周囲の塗装が少し禿げているのが気になったのでやめた。次に同じ「じゃんぱら」の秋葉原の店舗を訪れてみた。ここには、「12GB /512GBカーキグリーン」と「12GB /512GBシルバー」の２台の在庫があった。実のところ、512GBのストレージは私にはオーバースペックだったが、値段が約14万と、前述の256GBブラックモデルと比べていくらも変わらないのは魅力だった（ちなみに新品の定価は20万弱と256GBモデルに比べて1万高い）。聞いてみると、カーキグリーンのモデルはカメラのレンズに微細な埃が混入しており、シルバーのモデルは長期在庫ということで安くなっていたようだった。色合い自体はカーキグリーンの方が好みだったのだが、さすがにレンズに埃と聞いてしまうと、撮影に影響はないだろうと判っていても敬遠したくなる。一方のシルバーのモデルは、あまり好きな色ではなかったのだが、ほとんど使用感がなく、状態も良さそうだったので、結局こちらを購入することにした。併せて、これまで使っていたXperia Pro-iの買取価格を聞いてみたら、MAX 55000円とのことだった。MAXまでいかずとも、50K程度で買い取ってもらえれば、実質今回の出費は８〜9万以下に抑えられる。まあそれでも、これまでの私のスマホの購入歴の中では、ダントツで一番高価な買い物となったのだけれども。結局、購入後のセットアップにかなり手間取りそうだったことから、Xperia Pro-iはその場で下取りに出すのではなく、新たなスマホのセットアップが完了し、１〜２週間使って、きちんと使えることを確認したところで改めて売却することにした。GW前に入手できたので、セットアップの時間は十分にあった。そんなわけで、これが新たに購入したXperia１VI(12GB /512GBシルバー）。クリアブラックのケースを使っているので、外見が黒っぽく見える。セットアップや使い勝手についてはまた次のエントリーにて。＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊＊It’s been a little while since my last post, but this is the continuation of the entry linked above.My beloved Xperia Pro-i had started showing signs of battery fatigue, and to make matters worse, it was no longer eligible for security updates. So, even though it felt a bit early, I decided to replace my smartphone.Given the high trade-in value and the uncertainty in the market due to the so-called “Trump tariffs,” the logical choice should have been an iPhone. However, I still wanted to keep using a few Android-only apps, my personal Apple ID is essentially “occupied” by my wife, and I already use an iPhone for work. For all those reasons, I ended up deciding on another Xperia.The current top Xperia model is the Xperia 1 VI (Mark 6). That said, it’s been nearly a year since its release, and the Xperia 1 VII is expected to be announced right after Golden Week. Normally, the sensible move would be to wait for the new model.However, buying the upcoming 1 VII right at launch was never an option for me—mainly because the predicted launch price is around 200,000 yen, which is just far too expensive for me.Even the current 1 VI is steep—the Sony Store lists it at just under 190,000 yen (though there are occasional cashback offers). Without a price drop or campaign, it’s simply out of reach. Usually, when a new model is about to be released (or has just launched), the older model sees a discount. That was my plan—wait for the price cut. But as Golden Week drew near, there was no sign of a price drop; in fact, some colors and models had already gone out of stock.This was starting to look bad, so I shifted my target to the used market. By chance, I spotted an ad from a secondhand shop I often use, and a quick check showed that, depending on condition, I could get one for somewhere between 120,000 and 150,000 yen. Since it had been less than a year since release, I figured battery wear wouldn’t be too severe under normal use. The 1 VI also comes with a promised four years of security updates, so even buying it one year after launch would give me three more years of updates. If I take good care of it, I’m hoping the battery will last that long too.Since this was going to be a fairly expensive purchase even secondhand, I decided not to buy online but to inspect the phone in person first. Of course, how the previous owner actually used it is something “only God knows.”First, I checked out a 12GB / 256GB black model priced at 135,000 yen at a nearby branch of Janpara. Online, it was graded “A” with only light scratches, but I noticed some paint chipping around the charging port, which bothered me enough to pass on it.Next, I visited Janpara’s Akihabara store, where they had two units in stock: a 12GB / 512GB khaki green and a 12GB / 512GB silver. In truth, 512GB storage is overkill for me, but at about 140,000 yen—only slightly more than the 256GB black one—it was tempting. (For reference, the new retail price is just under 200,000 yen, about 10,000 more than the 256GB version.)I was told the khaki green unit had fine dust inside the camera lens, while the silver one had simply been in stock for a long time, hence the discount. I preferred the khaki green color, but once I heard about the lens dust, even knowing it likely wouldn’t affect photos, I hesitated. The silver model wasn’t really my favorite color, but it showed almost no signs of use and looked to be in excellent condition. In the end, I went with the silver one.I also asked about the trade-in value for my Xperia Pro-i, and they quoted a maximum of 55,000 yen. Even if I didn’t get the full amount, 50,000 yen would still bring my net cost down to under 80–90,000 yen. Still, that would make it by far the most expensive smartphone I’ve ever bought.Since setting up the new phone was likely to take some time, I decided not to trade in my old Xperia Pro-i on the spot. Instead, I’d keep it until the Xperia 1 VI was fully set up and tested over a week or two, then sell it. Thankfully, getting the new phone before Golden Week gave me plenty of time for setup.And here (photo) it is—my new Xperia 1 VI (12GB / 512GB, silver). 東京ぶらり散歩その12～日本橋クルーズ② TokyoStroll 12 – Nihonbashi Cruise (2)
首都高下の景観が途切れると、When the view beneath the Metropolitan Expressway ends,隅田川に合流。一気に川幅が広くなる。このサイズのクルーズ船だと迫力満点だ。the river merges into the Sumida River, where the river suddenly widens. For a cruise ship of this size, the view is truly impressive.豊洲市場Toyosu Market.この日は晴天ながら風が強く、波もやや高め。乗り心地は写真の見た目よりずっとワイルドだった。Though the weather was clear that day, the wind was strong and the waves somewhat high. The ride was much wilder than it looks in the photos.隅田川から東京湾に出て、ぐるっと一周して再び元のルートに戻る。From the Sumida River, the cruise entered Tokyo Bay, circled around, and returned to the original route.聖路加タワー。St. Luke’s Tower.中央大橋の間に東京スカイツリーが入り込むタイミングがシャッターチャンスなのだそうだ。There’s a perfect photo opportunity when Tokyo Skytree aligns between the spans of the Chuo Ohashi Bridge.勝鬨橋は重文に指定されている。中央から跳ね上がる構造だが、1970年を最後に開いていないそうだ。Kachidoki Bridge is designated an important cultural property. It features a bascule (drawbridge) structure, but it hasn’t been raised since 1970.そんなこんなで、70分の行程を終え、帰着。風の強さと波の高さで、思いの外タフなクルーズだった。何より船体が小さいので、浅草から乗る水上バスとは臨場感が全く異なり、新鮮だった。日本橋発のクルーズには、神田川をぐるっと回る90分コースもあるそうなので、遠からず参加してみたいと思う。And so the 70-minute cruise ended. Due to the strong winds and high waves, it was tougher than expected. The small size of the boat made for a completely different and fresh experience compared to the water buses departing from Asakusa.There is also a 90-minute cruise from Nihonbashi that goes around the Kanda River, so I would like to join that sometime soon.三越本店の建物も重要文化財に指定されている。The Mitsukoshi Main Store building is also designated an Important Cultural Property.「熈代勝覧」。地下鉄三越前駅のコンコースに設置されている、当時の日本橋界隈を描いた絵巻（複製画）。現物は現在も旧ベルリン東洋美術館、現ベルリン国立アジア美術館が所蔵している。The "Kidaishoran" (a painted scroll depicting the Nihonbashi area at the time) is displayed in the concourse of the Mitsukoshi-mae subway station. The original is held at the former Berlin Museum of East Asian Art, now the Berlin State Asian Art Museum.

東京ぶらり散歩その11～日本橋クルーズ① Tokyo Stroll, Part 11 — Nihonbashi Cruise ①
世の中はGWに突入、長いところでは11連休というところもあるようだが、私の職場はほぼカレンダー通りである。当初は長崎ハウステンボスとか、出雲大社とか、泊りがけの旅行も考えたが、羽田空港が混みそうなのと、なんとなく慌ただしいことから、結局都内近郊を回って過ごすことにした。日曜日のこの日は、午前中大手町の静嘉堂文庫美術館を見学し（別途アップ）、午後から日本橋に行ってみた。Golden Week has started, and while some people enjoy as long as an 11-day holiday, my workplace follows the regular calendar schedule.At first, I was considering trips that involved overnight stays, like Huis Ten Bosch in Nagasaki or Izumo Taisha Shrine, but due to the expected crowd at Haneda Airport and the feeling of a rushed schedule, I ultimately decided to spend time exploring the Tokyo metropolitan area nearby.On this Sunday, I visited the Seikado Bunko Art Museum in Otemachi in the morning (I will post separately about this), and in the afternoon, I went to Nihonbashi.言わずと知れた日本橋交差点。上を通る首都高速は現在トンネルにすべく工事中で、2037年には撤去される予定。時期を同じくして、高さ380mを超える超高層ビルも竣工するとのことで、このエリアの景観も劇的に変わることだろう。The Nihonbashi intersection is well known to everyone. The Metropolitan Expressway overhead is currently under construction to be moved underground, with plans for removal by 2037. It is famous for prayers for winning the lottery.ビルの谷間にヒッソリとたたずむ小さな神社だが、参拝者が後を絶たない。A small shrine quietly nestled between tall buildings, yet it continues to attract many visitors.ゴディバカフェで時間調整して、日本橋船着き場に向かう。After spending some time at the Godiva Cafe, I headed toward the Nihonbashi boat dock.クルーズ船はこのようなミドルサイズのものだが、一応、水洗トイレも備えているそうだ。GWとあって、この日は予約で満員だった。The cruise ship was a medium-sized one like this, and it was equipped with flush toilets.Since it was Golden Week, the cruise was fully booked by reservation.ルートはこんな感じ。水道橋河から隅田川に出て、晴海や勝どき、佃を通ってぐるりと戻る。隅田川以降は浅草から出ている水上バスと似たコースだ。The route looked like this: From the Suidobashi River out to the Sumida River, then passing Harumi, Kachidoki, and Tsukuda before looping back.From the Sumida River onward, it’s a similar course to the water buses that depart from Asakusa.日本橋川はその流路の９割で、上を首都高速が走っている。The Nihonbashi River has the Shuto Expressway running over about 90% of its course.これはこれで、ある意味、非日常な景観だ。In its own way, this creates a somewhat surreal, extraordinary cityscape.
