Trump family's connection to Polymarket and Kalshi
The move comes as prediction-market platforms such as Polymarket and Kalshi see record volumes, attracting interest from traditional players like CME Group and Intercontinental Exchange.
While Polymarket lets traders buy prediction events with cryptocurrency, Kalshi doesn't interact with crypto at all. However, there is one member of the Trump family who is associated with both the prediction markets.
Trump's son, Donald Trump Jr., joined Kalshi as a strategic advisor in January. Meanwhile, 1789 Capital, a venture capital fund he is a partner at, invested in Polymarket in August.
Earlier this month, Polymarket secured up to $2 billion in funding from the New York Stock Exchange parent, the Intercontinental Exchange, Inc. (NYSE:ICE), at a post-money valuation of $9 billion. Soon after, Kalshi announced raising $300 million in new funding at a valuation of $5 billion.
