柿の木剪定とニンニク酢漬け作り

　作品制作は完全休業。6月から取りかかる予定の作品は、4種の技法を統合して用いてみようと考え中だ。使用する薬品が、もしかすると日本では簡単に入手できないかもしれない。その場合を考慮に入れて、現在、構想中である。　庭の柿の木が鬱蒼と繁り、隣家の敷地にまで枝葉を伸ばしている。これはまずいと、高枝伐り鋏で伐った。実が親指の爪ほどの大きさに育っていたので、伐るには可哀想だったが、仕方がない。バッサリバッサリ切り落とした。1時間ほどの作業だった。鋏の柄を最大限に伸ばし、仰向いての仕事なので、しまいには目眩がしてきた。やはり歳・・・おっと、この先は言わないでおこう。文旦や椿も伐らなければと思ったが、後日回しだ。　しばらく休憩して、次にキッチンに入り、にんにくピクルスを漬けた。大分産の見事な大蒜（にんにく）があったので昨日20個買ってきたのだ。外皮を剥くのは大変だが、一粒一粒ていねいに剥いて、甘酢と唐辛子を混ぜた液に漬けた。以前作った液が残っていて、サラダドレッシングに使っていたのだが、今回はその液に加えた。5日ほどでできあがる。　我家のキッチンには、私がつくった30年物のビワ酒や梅酒、あるいは12年物の洋梨酒や柿酒、また辣韮漬けや梅干漬や大蒜酢漬、文旦マーマレードの大瓶中瓶がならんでいる。   Painting production is completely closed. If this is bad, I cut it with high-priningscissors. It was a pity to cut it because the ftuit hadgrown to the size of a thumb nail, but there is no help for it. I cut it off. It took about an hour. The workof yhe scissors was stretched to the maximum, and Iwas lying on my back, so I was dizzy at last. After all,I'm old ...Oops, don't say anything. I thought I wouldhave to cut down a shaddock and a camellia trees, but I will turn them later.    After a short break, I went into the kitchen and pickled garlic pickles. I bought 20 of them yesterdaybecause I had a wonderful garlic from Oita Prefecture.It's difficult to peel the outer skin, but I peeled it offcarefully one by one and dipped it in a mixture ofsweet vinegar and pepper. The liquid I made before was left and used for salad dressing sauce, but thistime I added it. It will take about 5 days.   In my kichen, 30-year-old loquat liquor and plumwine, 12-year-old pear and persimmon liquor, aswell as the scallion pickels, pikled plums, garlic vin-egar pickes, and a bottle of Shaddock marmalade,are lined up. 初物の鮎藻塩焼き

​​　​​​​今朝方の夢は非常にめずらしく、亡くなった両親も一緒に家族揃って登場。何の変わりもない極普通の暮し。ただしその場面は過去の現実には無かった。猫のサチかフクかが、私にまとわりついてしきりに小声で鳴くので、私は「うるさいよ、静かにしなさい」と言いながら胸に抱きかかえた。　・・・そこで目が醒めた。まだ猫の泣き声がするので、おかしいなと思いながら耳を澄ませた。正体は、どこか遠くで犬が「クワン、クワン」​​​​​​と小止みなく奇妙に鳴いていたのだ。　それにしても、一家総出の夢は、珍しいと言うより初めてである。　そろそろ鮎が解禁になる時期だ。夢に釣られたわけでわけではないが、両親の生前、神奈川県の中津渓谷に鮎料理を食べに連れて行ったことを思い出した。食べに行こうかと思ったが、その料亭は、現在、COVID-19の予防措置として予約制限をしているという。　多摩川上流の鮎解禁は6月1日だそうだ。今日は2日早いが、両親のことを思い出しついでに、すでに解禁になっていた愛知県産の鮎を魚屋で買って来て、夕食に塩焼きした。塩は昨年隠岐で買ってきた藻塩を使った。　献立は、五目寿司（仕上げに紅生姜、錦糸玉子・桜田麩・海苔胡麻をかけて）、鮎藻塩焼、天麩羅五種盛り、胡瓜と若布酢の物、汁。・・・仏前にも供える。   This morning's dream was extremely rare, and theparents who have died appear together with myfamilies. The true identify was that the dogwas crying oddly "Kwan,Kwan" somewhere far away.   Even so, it was the first time for all member of my family to dream of a family rather than to be rare.      It is about time for Ayu (sweetfish) to be lifted theban. Although I wasn't caught in a dream, I remem-bered when my parents were alived that I took them to the Nakatsu Valley in Kanagawa Prefecture to eat Ayu. I thought i'd go eat, but the restaurant now has reservation restrictions as a precautionary measurefor COVID-19.   It seems that thelifting the ban on Ayu on the Upper reaches of the Tama River is June 1st. It was two days early today, but while remembering myparents, I bought some Ayu from Aichi Prefecture, which had already been lifted, at a fish store andgrilled it for dinner. I used algal salt tht I boughtin Oki last year.   The menue consists of Gomokuzushi (sprinkled with​​ grated red ginger, pan fried and sliced egg,sakura-denbu, seaweed and sesame), Ayu withalgal salt grilled, Five kinds of Tempura, Cucum-ber and wakame seaweed vinegar, and Soup.   .... ミニアチュア3点

遊び

　きょうも新たなミニアチュアを描いていた。これはしかし未完成。ミニアチュアとは云え、私のいつもの油彩画技法の手順と同じなので、絵具の乾燥を待たなければならない状態になったのだ。遊びで描いているのだけれども、技法上の手順を踏み外すことはできない。こんな遊びをしながら本画のためのイメージを探っている。   Today I was drawing a new miniature. This is, how-ever, incomolete. Although it is a miniature, it is the same procedure as my usual oil painting technique, so I had to wait for the paint to dray. I draw it with play, but I can't miss the technical procedure. While playing such a game, i am searching for an image for the next picture.

ミニアチュア（極小細密画）を描く

絵を描いていたと言っても、今日は遊びのようなこと。ミニアチュア（極小細密画）を描いていた。6.5cmX5.5cmの金箔貼り油彩画。私は、細密描写の技術が低下しないように、暇があると時々描く。　ミニアチュアを私は海外の美術館でたくさん観て来た。日本語で「極小細密肖像画」と言われるように、16世紀17世紀のヨーロッパで王侯貴族のブローチや用途様々なメダイヨンとして制作されたミニアチュアは、技術的に優れてい、美しい。　王侯貴族の肖像なので、細密画家たちは細心の注意で、モデルの実物以上に美しい容貌（アッハッハ）を描出することに努めたのかもしれない。　権力者の肖像画は、ミニアチュアに限らず権力をアピールするために凝りに凝った豪華衣装と宝石で飾りたてるのが特徴である。その描写は微に入り細に入り、何一つ疎かに描いてはいない。画家の想像が入り込む余地はなかったのだと言える。　したがって、今となれば、衣装史の重要な資料であるばかりではなく、たとえば、刺繍でほどこされた意匠が、権力を象徴するものであったり、神から付与された祝福の象徴だったりするので、象徴学の資料でもあるのだ。ブローチの小さな画面に、細密画家たちは、そのような意匠を丹念に描いているのである。　私たちは拡大鏡で視なければ、なかなか見て取れない。美術館のガラスケースに収まっているそれらを、一瞥したぐらいでは見逃してしまうようなことなのだが、もし機会があったなら是非立ち止まって観察してみるのも面白い。　まあ、私が描いているのはそのような凝った絵柄ではない。ただ小さな画面だというにすぎない。集中力を維持する為の一環である。   Even though I was painting, it was like playing today.I was drawing a miniature. 6.5cmX5.5cm oil paintingwith gold leaf. I sometimes draw when I haave time, sothat the tecnique of detailed drawing doe not deterio-rate.   I hve seen many miniatures at musums abroad. As itis called "miniature portrait" in Japanese, miniatures made as royal brooches and medallions for various purposes in Europe in the 16th and 17th centuries aretechnically excellent and beautiful.   Since those were portraits of royal aristcracies, minia-ture painters might have worked with great care to de-pict a more beautiful appearance than reality of the model (Hahaha).   The portrait of the powerful person was not limited to miniatures, but was characterized by elaborated gorgeous costumes and jewelry to appeal the power.The description was subtle and detailed, and nothing was drawn sparsely. It can be said that there was noroom for the painter's imagination to enter.   Therefore, nowadays, not only is it an importantsource of costume history, but, for example, a designembroidered on it is a symbol of power or a blessinggiven by God, it is also the materials of symbolic study. The miniature painters cerefully painted such designs on the small screen of the brooch.   We can hardly see it without looking through a mag-nifying glass. It's a bit of a glance to see them in themuseim's glass case, but if you get the chance, it'sinteresting to stop and observe.   Well, I was not drawing such an elaborate design. 「智慧の実」を食べましょう！

　午後2時15分、描いて来た作品が完成した。小品なのだが16日間の仕事だった。一連のテーマの作品にワンブレイク置くつもりでテーマを変えて制作した。そのため少し長い時間を要した。次の作品からまた元のテーマに返る。　4月開催予定だったニューヨークEXPO 2020は、世界中を覆ったCOVID-19感染拡大のロックダウンによって中止（延期）になった。この展覧会出品作に付したサマリーに私は次のように書いた。　「私はここ数年間、智慧の実としてのリンゴをモチーフにして、人種、民族、宗教、性差を超えた世界共生のための新しい哲学を、闘争的ではない優しいイメージによって追求している。」　そのような私の意志を表明するために、次から次へとイメージを追い求めて発表してきた。 「智慧の実」を食べたがゆえに楽園を追放されたアダムとイヴの神話に仮託された支配構造の原理は、漢字文化圏においては「民」の字源に表わされている。すなわち、国民とか民衆という意の象形文字「民」は、「目」を「槍」で突き刺されて盲目となった人間たちのことだ。人々の目を槍で突き刺し、物事を見えないようにして支配する。（あり得る誤解のために断っておくが、私が言っているのは現実的に視覚障碍がある方々ではない）　・・・高位宗教者が知を独占する。あるいは王が知を独占する。このようにして支配ー被支配の社会構造を制度化してゆくのは、何も古代や中世の話ではない。　女性が教育の機会を奪われ、その機会を獲得したとしても性差を社会構造化している社会において侮蔑的な不利益を被らされている。経済格差が教育の機会均等を無効にし、知の獲得から脱落させられた人々は、生まれたときから死ぬまで、塵埃と汚泥にまみれて這いずらなければならない。　あるいは困難な世界を知性によってより良い方向に再構築するよりも、情念の赴くままに互いに罵りあい、傷つけあい、果ては取り返しがつかない暴力を繰り広げる。そのような状態を含み笑いで面白がっている人間がいることも知らずに。あるいは、そのような高見の見物者が、暴力的な事態を焚き付けていることも知らずに。・・・それは、まさに現代の状況である。　「智慧の実」を食べましょう！・・・これが私の作品のテーマだ。   At 2:15 pm, the work I drew was completed. It is not thestory of ancient times or the Middle Ages thatinstitutionalizes the rule-controlled social struc-ture in this way.   Women are deprived of educational opportuni-ties, and even if they are seized, they are con-temptibly disadvantaged in a society in whichgender differences are socially structured.   Economic disparities nullify equality of oppor-tunity in education, and people who have fallen out of wisdom have to crawl in dust and sludgefrom birth to death.   Rather than rebuilding a difficult world in a better way with intelligence, they swear, hurt,and irrevocably violate each other according totheir emotions. Even without knowing that thereare people who are chackling and entertaining,Including such situations. Or, without knowingthat such a high-profile spectator is burning aviolent situation. ... 外出自粛規制が緩和で車が多い

　昼過ぎに2時間ばかり1週間ぶりの外出をした。昨日までの小雨が止んで好天となり、土曜日ということもあろうが、車の往来が非常に多い。COVID-19による外出自粛規制が各地で緩和されはじめているからだろうか。東京都心を離れた市部なのだが、信号ストップで左右の車道はそれぞれ20台にもなる列となっていた。ここ2ヶ月間の人影がなかった閑散とした街に人通りもある。決して人通りが元に戻ったというようには見えないが、いささかの賑わいが感じられた。もちろんみなマスクをしているのだが・・・。そして「三密」規制は存続しているのだが・・・。　「三密」という言葉は、COVID-19の感染拡大に対処する過程で登場した言葉だ。言葉の自立性を考えると奇妙な言葉で、実態は不明である。つまり三という数字が何を指しているのか分からないのだ。これが通用するのは一時的な社会現象が人々の共通のイメージとしてある限りにおいてである。まことに不思議な言葉をつくったものだ。　と、そんなことを歩きながら考え、そして、私は歩きながら笑った。「密」で造られている熟語を思ったのだ。そしてその多くが、いわば政治の裏面に存在する事を指してもいたからだった。「三密」どころではない、五密、十密、十三密である。　密会、密談、密議、密約、密契、密計、密謀、密偵、密探、密事、密書、密告、密殺・・・　中学生の国語のテスト問題にしてみては如何でしょう。アッハッハ！　　さて、画材店が再開したというが、私はもうしばらく様子をみることにした。補充したい画材リストをメモすると、18品になった。閉じこもって作品制作に励んでいた証であろう。きょうも、午前中に少し描き、絵具の乾燥をまたなければならなくなったので、外出したのだ。   I went out for the first time in a week for just twohours in the afternoon. Althought it is a cityarea away from the center of Tokyo, there were 20cars on each side of the road at the stop of the signal.There is a pedestrian street in a quiet town where there have been no people for the last two months. Itdoesn't look like the pedestrian have returned to nor-mal, but I felt a little buzz. Of course everyone wearsgauze masks ... And the "san-mitsu (three-closed ;must avoid three examples for social distance)" regu-lation still exists ...   The word Japanese "san-mitsu" was conined in theprocess of dealing with the spreadof COVID-19 in-fections. It is a strange word considering the inde-pendence of words, and the actual condition is un-known. So I don't know what the number three is.This is only vailed as long as there is a temporarysocial phenomenon as a common image of people.It was a truly mysterious word.   I thought about that while walking, and I laughedwhile walking. I thought of some idioms made of"密;mitsu (close, dense, or intimate, or secret)". And many of them also meant being on the back-side of politics, so to speak. Not "three-dense", but five, ten, thirteen ...   Mikkai, and mitsugi (secret meeting), mitsudan (secret talk), mitsuyaku and mikkei (secret agree-ment), mikkei (secret plan), mitsubou (secret con-spiracy), mittei (spy), mittan (secret investigation),mitsuji (secret thing), missyo (secret statement),mikkoku (secret information, or betrayal), missatsu(secret killing) ...   How about trying a Japanese language test prob-lem for middle school students?  Ahaha!   Now that the art supply store has reopened, butI decided to wait to go for a whole. When I wrote dowwn the list of art supplies I wanted to replen-ish, there were 18 items. It may be a proof that Iwas shut up in the studio and working hard. Today I went out because I had to paint a bit inthe morning and have to dry the paint again.Tadami Yamada   

「晩節を汚す」という言葉がある

　小雨が降り、寒い一日だった。一度引っ込めたカーディガンを出し、着た。終日、作品制作。　昨夜、就寝前に読み始めた英語の原書が、読み進むうちに面白くなり、とうとう午前2時半まで読んでいた。そのため今日の昼間は少し眠かった。制作の途中でコーヒー・ブレイクにするけれど、飲みながら、気がつくと首を前に倒して眠ること2,3度。いま、この日記を書きながら、目が渋くなって来ている。　「晩節を汚す」という言葉がある。高潔に人生を全うすることは如何に難しいかということだなー。今夜は大江健三郎氏の『晩年様式』を読み直してみよう。   It was a cold day with light rain. I took out the car-digan that I had stowed once and wor it. All day workproduction.   The original English book that I started reading lastnight before going to bed became interesting as I read it, and I was finally reading it until 2:30 am. So Iwas a little sleepy during the daytime. I make coffeebreaks in the middle of the painting, but when I no-ticed while drinking, I fell down my neck and slept afew times. Now, while I'm writing this diary, my eyesare getting sick.   There is a word that "bansetsu-wo-yogosu (defiles own later years)." It means very difficult to live a sin-cere life.    Tonight, I re-read Kenzaburo Oe's "Bannen yōshiki (Late Life Style)".

政権の「虚仮の一念」

　「虚仮（こけ）の一念」という表現がある。言うまでもなかろうが、「虚仮」とは「思慮の浅いこと」あるいは「愚かなこと」、また「みせかけだけで中身がないこと」や「むやみに突っ走ること」を言う。　まるで日本の首相とその政権を指す謂いだ。この政権の政策はことごとく「虚仮の一念」。　首相のめざす到達点は日本の民主的平和憲法を「改悪」することだろう。　私は他の一般人に対してならば決して言わないが、一国の首相なのであえて言おう。この首相の根本的な意思は、戦後の歴代首相が成し遂げたくてできなかった「憲法改悪」を自分こそが成し遂げて政治家として華々しく歴史に名を記すこと・・・、私はそのように「忖度」している。この人は物事をあまり深く考えたことがないのかもしれない。彼の言葉は表層をなぞるだけで，ほとんど曖昧か意味不明だからである。少なくとも彼の政治的な言葉には、思考を重ねて来た結果としての血肉が備わっていないのだ。それは彼の内閣の各大臣も同様である。　戦後民主主義を破壊し、憲法を改悪し、それが軍国主義的な国家への道を開き、日本を三たび戦争に巻き込む可能性を開くことだとしても、この首相にはそんな結果論などどうでもいいに違いない。自分を支持する人間たちがいま一度の軍事国家への憧れと夢を抱いて・・・（それは過去の自国の犯した疚しさを隠蔽しようとする弱い心の裏返しの愛国心にすぎないのだが）・・・徒党を組んで近づいて来ていても、権力者であることを支持してくれればそれで良いに違いない。この首相の「虚仮の一念」は、したがって民意など眼中にない。「保身」というよりもっと強烈な自己実現であると思われる。現在、首相自身が疑惑の渦中にある「事件」を見ると、たとえば賄賂を得て自らの懐を肥やすというような事件ではない。この首相にはそんな安っぽさはないのだ。　この首相のやってきたことは憲法改悪のために着々と外堀を埋めてきたことだ。　国民が気がついたときにはすでに手出しができないような制度を築き、三権のトップ組織を掌握することだろう。彼の内閣は幇間のようなものだ。・・・特定秘密保護法、内閣法制局憲法第九条解釈、NHK会長人事への政権介入等等。　・・・そして黒川検事長定年延長人事と検察庁法解釈変更案。　すべてが民主主義国家としての重大な枠組みを外すものだ。　検察庁法解釈変更案は今国会での審議撤退を政権は表明した。しかし、内容は維持したまま今後も引続き審議に掛けて行くという。　菅官房長官は、黒川検事長の定年延長について、法律に定められている「定年は63歳の誕生日前」を破っての違法人事を「国民に周知する必要がない」と断言し、検察庁法改正は「必要、重要な法案」だと述べた（5月18日、各紙）。　シロウト剥き出しのようなあやふや答弁を繰りかえしている森法務大臣は、19日の閣議後会見で、起訴権限をほぼ独占する検察に「民主的統制をどう及ぼすのかと、独立性をどう確保するのかというバランスの問題を国民に説明したい」と述べ、現行案のまま成立をめざす意向を表明した（5月19日、各紙）。　私から言わせると「語るに落ちた」である。　民主的統制をどう「及ぼすか」ということは、すなわち政権が「介入」するという事以外では考えられない。それは、政権と検察とが対抗関係にある「事件」においては、きわめて危険である。すでにして公正な司法は崩壊しているからだ。対政権のみならず、政権と極めて近い関係にある何らかの民間機関・企業・個人と検察とが対抗関係になった場合も、世論に公平感を維持することは不可能である。・・・実際、今国民の非常に多くが疑いを抱いて注視しているのは、首相と民間企業との間で国民財産を違法に融通したのではないかという事件だ。民間側がすでに有罪判決を下されているので、何故そのような国民財産の融通ができたのか、そこには首相の意向があったのではないか。慎重な捜査、しかし厳格な検察が俟たれている。・・・そこにおいての,　しかも国民の意識が新型コロナウィルス感染の脅威に向いている隙を狙ったかのように、政権お声掛かりの検事長の定年延長と国会に検察庁法の改正案の提出である。　私は現野党には期待していない。彼らには本質を究めて問題点をえぐり出し、再構成し、反対概念に対抗できる資料を収集する能力と追求力が無い。政権に対する国会質問は、子供のように他愛無いものだ。国民への発信力に欠ける。　では、私は何に期待しているか。目覚めている国民の個々人の鋭敏な意識と、知的な行動力である。軍国主義やファシズムに対抗するためには、「喉元過ぎれば熱さ忘れる」ではダメなのだ。   There is an expression of "koké-no-ichinen" in Japa-nese. Needless to say, "koké" means "being foolish" or "stupid", "buffer", "being foolish and empty", or "run-ning wildly, or "bluff".   It is as if it refers to the Japanese prime minister and his administration. I guess like that. This person may not have thought too much about things. This is becausehis words are almost vague or no mmeaning just bytracing the surface. At least his political language lacks the blood and flesh as a result of repeated thoughts. It is the same for each minister in his cabinet.   Even if it destroy postwar democracy, corrupts the constitution, opens the way to a militaristic state, and opens the possibility of involving Japan in the war three times, the Prime Minister is not interested in such a result theory. There must be no. The people who support themselves have a longing and dream for a military nation once again (though it is just the patri-otism of a weak mind that wants cover up the evil done by their own country in the past) ... even if they are approaching with a clique, it must be good if they sup-port the power of him. This prime minister's "imaginary idea" therefore has no public opinion. It seems that it is more self-actualization than self-protection. 外出自粛要請下にお父さんと一緒

　好天の日曜日。東京は明日から雨の予想なので、私は日用品を買う為にほぼ2週間ぶりに自転車で外出した。　行き帰りに気がついたのは、お父さんに連れられて散歩する小学生の幾組だ。外出自粛要請で、元気盛りの子供たちも家に閉じこもらざるを得ないであろう。ストレスを感じながらの生活がつづき、きょうはしばらくぶりの親子の散歩にちがいない。　或る父子はプラスティック袋を手に、叢を掻き分けながら何かを採集していた。川遊びをしてきたらしい父子は、お父さんの手に子供用の小さな透明なバケツをぶらさげていた。川蟹か小魚かを獲ってきたのだろう。また、私の行きに見かけた二人の兄弟を連れたお父さんが、私の帰りには魚屋の前で何やら父子で相談していた。　・・・みなそれぞれマスクをしての散歩である。　自転車を駆る私の前を蝶が舞った。ジャコウアゲハである。やや小型なので春型であろう。我家の小庭に毎年やってきたクロアゲハとキアゲハは、今年はまだみかけない。   A sunny Sunday. It's been forecasting rain in Tokyotomorrow, so today i went out by bicycle for the firsttime in almost two weeks to buy daily necessities.   I noticed some groups of elementary school boystaking a walk with their father. COVID-19 Suppress-ing the outbreak to prevent infections, children havebeen forced to stay at home. Life continues to be stressful, so today's family must be taking a walk.   A father and a son were collecting something while scraping with a plastic bag. Another fatherand son who seem to have been playing in the riverhung a small transparent bucket for choldren infather's hand. I wonder if they have caught the crabor the small fish. Also, the father with two brothersI saw on my way was consulting with his sons infromt of the fish shop.   ... Everyone is wearing a gauze mask for a walk.   A butterfly danced in front of me riding a bicycle.It is a Musk-Swallowtail (Byasa alcinous KLUG 1836). It's a little small, so it's probably spring type.    I haven't seen Black-Swallowtail (Papilio protenordemetrius CRAMER 1782) and Yellow-Swallowtail (Papilio machaon hippocrates FELDET et FELDER 1864) every year in our samall garden this year.Tadami Yamada

　毎日のことながら一日中変わらずに作品制作している。弟が、作品のモデルにする外国産の物品を買って来てくれた。「そろそろ画材の在庫が少なくなってきた」と言うと、彼は「まだ2週間ぐらいは我慢するしかないね」。　後期高齢者医療被保険者証が送られてきた話を彼にすると、弟は大笑いして「それはビックリしたでしょう。次は超・後期高齢者被保険者証が送られてくるよ」。　弟から見ても私は元気な爺ちゃんらしい。　休み無く絵を描き、文章原稿を書き、外国語の書物を読み、毎日料理をし、それを記録し（主治医に栄養の摂り過ぎと注意された。食べる量は多くはないのだ。質が良いのだね、ハハハ）、好奇心旺盛で・・・。　まあねー、実はいつも死神に追いかけられている感じがあるからなのだけれどねー。　ああ、そうだ、英語にこんな表現がある。   ”Youth leave but lust remain".    翻訳しなくてもいいでしょう。　超・後期高齢者医療被保険者証が送られてくるまで、がんばるゾー！　オー！   I painted all day, everyday though. My younger brother bought me a foreign-made article for model of my work. When I said, "I'm starting to run out of stock of art supplies," he said, "You have to put up with it for about two weeks, because COVID-19 willnot end yet."   When I told him about my card of medical insurance for late-age elderly, he laughed and said, "You are surprised. Next time you will receive your super-old elderly medical insurance card."   From my brother's point of view, I seem to be an ac-tive old man. Yes, without rest I drew pictures, wrote manuscripts, read bokks in foreign languages, cook every day, and document them (my doctor advised me that I was overnourished. However, I didn't always eat much, but maybe it was good quality. 「テメェ、何やってんだ！」

「利己的で同族主義、敵対的な風潮が強まる長期的な傾向」・・・これは米国の前大統領オバマ氏が自国の政治的現状を批判した演説のなかで言ったことである（CNN/2020.05.10 Sun posted at 15,05 JST)。演説全体の文脈から一部分だけを取り出してここに書くのは誠に申し訳ないが、この言葉が指摘する米国政治の危険な徴候は、そのまま日本の政治的な現状に当てはまるであろう。我国の政権史上のほとんどまれなる、首相と彼の内閣の無法とも言える暴挙と欺瞞による国民愚弄を、他国の前大統領の言葉を拝借して批判しなければならないとは、我ながら忸怩たる思いだ。　しかしながら、この首相の傲慢を国民は愚弄されながら許してはいないだろうか。　私は今日の朝日新聞朝刊の「天声人語」に紹介されていた俳優某氏のツイートを読んで、ふとそう思った。　俳優某氏は、政府の判断で検察幹部の定年延長が可能になる法改正案に対する抗議を表明している。私は某氏に完全に同調する。この法改正（むしろ法改悪と書くべきだが）には、まさにオバマ氏の指摘すると同じ底意があり、しかも急いで成立させなければならない首相自身の理由があると言ってもよい。　検察幹部の定年を制定した現法は、国法に基づく審理を前提した絶大な検察権を保持する検察官の身分保証に対して明確な定年規制を設定したれっきとした法理念に基づいているのであって、現政権によって定年延長を左右する必要はまったく無い。法によって事件を審理する機関が、時の政府の意向を反映するような機関に堕落するなら、日本はもはや民主主義国家とは言えない。司法は政権ならびに議員に対抗しなければならない事態がおこりうるからである。そして、現在まさに、首相自身がそのような疑惑の多くの事態の渦中にある。　もしここでこの改悪法が成立すれば、「悪」が法となるのである。「法治」という概念は「人倫」に添ってはいないからだ。悪法をもって法と成し、法治国家として厳重に法を履行する。これはかつてヒットラーの採った手法、ナチスの手法である。数年前のこと、現内閣の副総理が「ナチスをみならえ」という意味の発言を口走った。何やら弁解したが、悪法をもって法と成すことが政権運営には必要だという考えは捨て切れないのではあるまいか。　さて、私が俳優某氏に完全に同調しながら、そのツイートした言葉に少しばかり異を唱えたくなったのである。朝日新聞が引用していたその言葉を再引用すると、「もうこれ以上、保身のために都合良く法律も政治もねじ曲げないで下さい」と。　私はこの「下さい」に対して、先に私の提示した「首相の傲慢を国民は愚弄されながら許してはいないだろうか」という疑問がわいてくるのだ。　「テメェ、何やってんだ！」と、首相を怒鳴りつけるのが国民の本筋だ。現代の国政において、「権力」は国民からの預かりものだということだ。その本質を忘れて、主体たる国民を愚弄し、預かりものの権力を己自身の伝家の宝刀と勘違いして保身のためにふりまわしているのだから、「テメェ、何やってんだ！」と言わなければならないのだ。　　日本の政治家は与党であろうと野党であろうと、不適切行為によって指弾されたり、あるいは無法行為によって摘発されても、辞任どころか「私を選んだ皆様の為に頑張ります」などと言う。この言葉を「居直り」と取る人もいるだろうし、「禊（みそぎ）」と形容するマスコミもある。あるいは、離党して他の党に鞍替えしたり、自らが新党を組織したりしている。　しかし、この弁明は、選挙制度の理念に照らすと心理的詐術であり、論理的に破綻している。　つまり、選挙民は不適切行為や無法行為をする人物を選んだわけではないので、「私には私を選んだ選挙民のバックアップがある。それは定められた任期において不変であり、盤石だ」という意識は、それこそ選挙民を愚弄しているのだ。のみならず政党政治を基盤とする選挙制度において、離党や鞍替えは選挙民に対する大いなる裏切りであるはずだ。ここにも日本の選挙制度をめぐる政治家側からの論理破壊がある。　首相にも、「私は選ばれた」のだから何をやっても良い、という意識が窺える。　とにもかくにも、日本の政治はいまやギャングの思うつぼだ。オバマ氏のような知性をそなえた政治家は何処に・・・   "A long-term trend of increasing selfishness, kinship,and hostile sentiment." ... I'm very sorry totake a section here from the context of the entire speech, but the dangerous signs of US politics pointedout by this words would apply directly to Japan's polit-ical situation. It is a pity I have to criticize the illicit actsof the prime minister and his cabinet, which are almostunheard of in the history of our government, and crit-icize the public ridicule of deceit, using the words of the former president of other country.   However, I wonder if the people are forgiving the ar-rogance of the prime minister while being fooled.   I read the tweet of an actor who was introduced intoday's Asahi Shimbun's " Tensei-Jingo (Vox PopuliVox Dei)" and thought that. Mr. Actor has protestedagainst a law amendment that allows the prosecutor'sExecutive to retire at the discretion of the government.I perfectly follow a certain man. It is fair to say that this revision of the law (though it should be written that it will fall into a bad law) has exactly the same intention as Mr. Obama points out, and there is alsothe reason for the prime minister himself to urgently pass it.    The current law, which established the mandatoryretirement age for prosecutors, is based on a well-established legal philosophy that sets clear retire-ment age restrictions on the guarantee of the iden-tity of prosecutors who hold enormous prosecutionrights based on the hearing under national law. There is no need for the government to control the exten-sion of retirement age. Japan cannot be said to be a democratic state anymore if the institution that hears the case by law falls into an institution that reflects the intentions of the government at the time. This isbecause the judiciary may have to oppose  the ad-ministration and legislators. And right now, the primeminister himself is in the midst of much of such sus-picion.   If this reform law is passed here, "evil" becomesthe law. This is because the concept of "law" doesnot follow "humanity". The law become a law withbad law, and the law is strictly enforced as a law-abiding country. This is the Nazis method thatHitler once adopted. Afew years ago, the VicePrime Minister of the current cabinet uttered astatement that meant "use the Nazi method as areference to emulate." He made some excuses, butI wonder if his idea that it is necessary for the ad-ministration of the government to make a law witha bad law cannot be abandoned.   Now, while I was perfectly in tune with a certainactor, I wanted to slightly disagree with tweetedwords. To re-quote the words quoted by the AsahiShimbun, "Plwase, don('t twist the law or politicsanymore to protect yourself."   "Please" he said, while I ask the question "Isn't the nation foolish enough to forgive the arrogance of the prime minisster" that I presented earlier?   THe main point of the people is to yell at the prime minister, "What are you doing, facking guy? "   In modern national politics, "power" is a custody of the people. 　さてさて、また新しい作品の制作にとりかかった。私自身がモデルとなって本画用デッサンのための写真を20カットほど撮影した。ノー、ノー、ヌードじゃないよ、ハハハ。手です。手をいろいろな角度から撮影したのだ。それを参考にして最もふさわしい構図を決めたわけである。   I started working on a new painting. 旧友の手紙

　夕方、新聞をポストから引出し、奥に何か妙な具合に入っているものが手に触れた。手を突っ込んで取り出してみると、勝呂くんからの手紙だった。先日ポートレート写真を送ってくれた大学時代の級友・勝呂くんである。　最近は見ることがとんと少なくなった立派な筆跡（て）の宛名書に感じ入りながら近況を拝読。　故郷の写真が添えられていた。ご両親のお眠りの墓地であろうか・・・小高い山の上から俯瞰して、セルリアンブルーの駿河湾を挟んで真っ正面に富士を遠望する。　貴簡によって私は知ったのだが、土肥港と清水港を結ぶ海上線を県道223号線というのですねー。　ヘーッ！と思いながら調べてみると、2013年にその名称になったのだそうだ。海上の道・・・従来の三分の一弱という距離と時間短縮の経済効率を措いて、何ともロマンチックだ。私はついつい華厳経の観音菩薩の御座す補陀落への海上の路を連想した。ご両親のお墓と、さらにその写真と共に義理の故御母上に因む土地の風習の贈り物が同封されていたからでもある。　勝呂くんの故郷であり、また私の生地でもある町を私は訪ねたことがないのだが、実は亡母は弟と二人で訪ねていた。まだ亡母が元気な頃だったから40年くらい前のことだ。弟が母をドライヴに連れ出したのだ。　母が亡くなってから遺品を整理していたら、書付が出てきた。そこに、そのドライヴのことが書かれていた。そして、「タダミは仕事が忙しくて一緒に行けなかった」とあった。たしかに出版社からの依頼が重なって、睡眠時間もとれないほど忙しい時期だった。　その書付から私が思いだしたことがあった。私が生まれたときに若い両親と祖父母が住んでいた家の隣家の奥さんに、そのドライヴで偶然に出逢ったと母は言ったのである。昭和20年の半ば以来の遭遇だった。お互いに良く認識できたものだ。　思い出しついでだ。　・・・私が小学5年生のときだっただろうか。或る夜の夢に、浴衣のような着物姿で縁先で遊んでいた幼児の私を、隣家の主婦が手招きした。そして、「これをお母さんに持って行ってちょうだい」と言いながら平たい竹笊に入った若布を渡された。・・・目覚めて憶えていたのはそれだけだった。　この夢の話をすぐに母に話すと、それは事実だと母は言った。そして台所のいわゆるビルトインの戸棚の一番上から直径20cmほどの古びた竹笊を取り出した。「これが夢にでてきた若布をいただいた笊です」　戦時中の食糧不足の折り、少しの余剰をお互いに贈りあっていたのであろう。若布をくれた隣家の主婦が、母がドライヴのときに遭遇した人である。　勝呂くんの手紙を読みながら私自身の思い出が引きずられて出て来た。　それにしても勝呂くん、貴君は、学生時代の私の「いつも寝不足ぎみの顔」をよく憶えていますねー。びっくりしました。そうなんです、先日もブログに書きましたが、あのころ私の神経は最悪で不眠状態でした。大学へ向かう土手道をふらつきながら歩き、気がつくと下の電車路に飛び込みそうになったりして・・・。街で出逢う犬たちは、何か恐ろしいものを見るように後ずさりしながら私に向かって牙をむき出し、低く唸るのでしたよ。・・・大学の卒業記念写真アルバムのクラス集合写真には、私が写っていません。写真撮影日時に学校に行っていなかったからです。　しかし、そんな私の顔を勝呂くんが記憶しているとは、いやー驚きました。嬉しいお手紙をありがとうございました。   In the evening, I pulled out the newspaper from thepost and touched something strange in the back.When I put my hand in and took it out, it was a letterfrom Mr. Suguro who was my classmate of the lawdepartment of the university. Mr. Suguro sent me a his portrait photo the other day.   Recently, the number of good Japanese charactershand writings has decreased, but I read his recent situation while feeling the address of his fine hand writing.   A picture of his hometown was attached. Maybe it's the graveyard where his parents slept ... Lookingdown there from a small mountain, and looking atMt. Fuji directly in fromt of Suruga Bay, which is acerulean blue.   I knew from the letter that the sea line connectingToi Port and Shimizu Port is prefectural road 223.   Hey! When I looked it up, I knew that it became that name in 2013. Maritime Road: It's a romanticone, with the distance of less than one-third thatof the past and the economic efficiency of timesaving. I was remind of the sea route to the Paradise of the Kannonbosatsu (Guanyin Bodhisattva) of the Kegon Sutra. This is because the photo of the grave of his parents and the present thing of the customs of the land attributed to his late mother-in -law were enclosed together with the letter.    I have never visited the town that was the homeof Suguro-kun and my birthplace, but in realitythe late my mother was visiting with my youngerbrother. It was about 40 years ago when my moth-er was still fine. My younger brother took her to adrive.    When I was organizing her belongings after mymother died, I got a copy. That drive was writtenthere, "Tadami was too busy to work with us," shewrote. It was a busy time that I could not get enough sleep time because of requests from pub-lishers.   I had something that I had in mind from the mother's note. My mother told me, she met a wifewho was next to the house where my young parents and grandparents lived when I was born,that my mother happened to meet the wife at thedrive. It has been an encounter since the middle of 1945. They were able to recognize each other well.   By the way...   I wonder if I was in fifth grade of the elementary school. In a dream of one night, a housewife nextdoor beckonned to me, an infant (it's me) playing in a kimono like a yukata at the veranda. Then shehanded me some wakame seaweeds in a flat bamboo basket, saying, "Give this to your mom,"... that was the only thing I remebered when I work up.   I immediately told my mother the story of thisdream, and she said it was true. Then, she tookout an old bamboo basket about 20 cm in dia-mater from the top of the so-called built-incabinet in the kitchen. My mother said, "This isthe basket which got wakame seaweeds tht came out in your dream last night,"   It seems that they were giving each other alittle surplus due to the food shortage duringthe war. The beighbor's housewife who gaveme the wakame seaweeds is the one my moth-er encountered when she was driving.   While reading the letter of Suguro-kun, myown memories came out.   Even so, Suguro-kun, you remember well my "always sleepy face" when i was a student.Surprised. That's right, I wrote it on the blogthe other day, but at that time my nerves were the worst I was not in sleep. I walked down the causeway to the university, and when I noticedit, I tended to jump into the train pathbelow. The dogs that I met in the city groanedlow, barking back toward me, looking back at something homble, ... I don't appear in theclass group photo of the university graduationphoto album. 　夕方から稲光とともに雷鳴が轟いている。降ったり止んだりだった雨が、午後8時になるころから次第に激しくなった。　雷鳴を聞きながら私はふと平安時代の人々の雷に対する非常なる恐れを想った。現代人とはあまりにもかけ離れたその心性を想った。　平安時代の人々の心をプリミティブと言いたいけれど、実は荒々しく野蛮な心性でもあったのだ。ほとんど日常的に人を斬殺し、あるいは呪殺し、巷には屍体がころがっていた。素裸同然に襤褸をまとい飢餓地獄に糸のように細い命を保っている庶民がいた。殺し殺され、この世に生きる儚さを知悉していたその心性が、雷を我身への祟りとして恐怖したのである。　「雷様に臍をとられる」という俗信があった。親が子に対する何等かの戒めに明治大正の頃までは言っていただろう。昭和になってからも言っていたかもしれない。「臍」というのがおもしろい。　日本語には古代中国起源の「臍（ほぞ）を固める」とか「臍（ほぞ）を噬（か）む」という表現がある。「臍」は産後に臍帯（ヘソノオ）を切った痕（あと）の凹みの意である。木造建築における「ほぞ」とか「ほぞあな」の「ほぞ」は漢字では「木ヘン」に「内」。物と物とを接合する突起が「ほぞ」で、その突起を入れる穴が「ほぞあな」である。しかしこの漢字は「臍」と語源は同じである。・・・このことから窺えるのは、生殖行為の即物的イメージ及び誕生した生命体（つまりは人間）の大事な部分としての「ヘソ」というイメージだ。　この世の罪業深い心性に「祟り神」として出現する「雷様」からヘソを守る、・・・それ相応の理由があったのである。　私が小学生の頃に購読していた『科学大観』の「電気」の巻の表紙は、アイザック・ニュートン（1642-1727）が凧を揚げて雷が電気であることを確認している絵だった。この逸話が伝説的作り話でないとしたら、人類は17世紀まで雷が空中放電現象であることを知らなかったのだから、我が日本の8世紀から12世紀の平安時代人が雷を祟り神と想ったのはいたしかたない。　ところで、私はニュートンを引っぱり出してまで雷のことを書いたが、じつは私の連想癖で、ニュートンが大学で学位修得に励んでいた当時、ロンドンではペストが発生していたのだ。ペスト・パンデミックである。・・・今、東京は雷鳴がとどろき、人々は新型コロナウィルス・パンデミックに戦々恐々としている。   The thunder roars with the lightning from the eve-ning. It's been raining off and on, but it became in-creasingly heavy around 8 pm.   Listening to thunder, I suddenly thought of the great fear of thunder in the Heian period. I thoughtof that kind of mindset that was too far from mod-ern people.   I would like to call the people's hearts of the Heian era primitive, but in reality, they were alsowild and barbaric in their minds. Everyone waskilled and cursed almost every day. There were corpses lying on the street. There were commoners who suffered from the hell of hunger and wor a ragand lived a thread-thin life. Knowing whether he was killed or killed, and the ephemeral living in thisworld, he feared lightning  as a blame for his wrongdoing.   There was a popular belief that "the navel couldbe caught by thunder god." Until the time of theMeiji and Taisho era, parents would have said somecommandments against their children. It may havebeen said even after the Showa era. "Navel" is inter-esting.   In japanese, there are expressions such as "hozo-wo-katameru (harden the navel)" and "hozo-wo-kamu (bite the navel)" that originated in ancientChina. "Hozo (navel)" is the dent of the mark aftercutting the umbilical cord. The hozo of "hozo" or"hozo-ana" in wooden construction, mean themor-tise is protrusion that joins things together, and the mortise is the hole into which the protrusion is inserted. This kanji is formed with left-side "木" and right-side "内". However, this kanji has the same etymology as "umbilical code", it is a kanji  "臍".   From this, it can be seen that there is an imageof reproductive action and an image of "navel" asan important part of the life form (that is, humanbeing) born.   Protecting navel from "Thunder" who appears asa daity calling down curses upon, in the sinful of this world, ... there was a reason for that.    The cover of the "Electricity" volume  of  the"Kagaku-taikan (Scientific General View)" that Isubscribed to when I was an elementary schoolstudent was a picture of Isaac Newton (1642-1727) flying a kite to confirm that lightning iselectrical. It was if this anecdote was not a leg-endary myth, humankind did not know that thunder was an air discharge phenomenon until the 17th century, so our Heian peoplefrom the 8th to 12th centuries of Japan thoughtof thunder as a deity. I can't help it.   By the way, I wrote about Thunder until pull-ed out Newton, but it was actually my associ-ation habit, and at the time Newton was work-ing hard to get his degree at university, there was a plague in London. 5月5日の二人静

　端午の節句だが空は曇り、どんよりと蒸し暑い。我家恒例の菖蒲湯は、ことしは肝腎の菖蒲を買いに出られない。　まあしかし、楽しみはあるもので、先日弟が植えてくれた山野草の「二人静」が今朝咲いた。5月5日の五並びに合せたわけではあるまいに、小さな白い神楽鈴のような二本立ちの花が可憐だ。　「二人静」とは良くぞ付けた名だ。　白拍子の静御前を想っての名だが、白絹の水干のみならず、私は花の形に神楽鈴を想う。日本舞踊の「静御前」あるいは歌舞伎舞踊「二人静」の衣装および持ち道具は、金烏帽子・白水干・緋袴、白鞘の剣に扇、そして終盤に胴に鈴が入っている鈴太鼓で舞い収める。　この型はいつごろできあがったのであろう。　私が「二人静」の花の形に神楽鈴を思い浮べるのは、白拍子の起源は諸説あるが、元来が巫女舞いであったとも言われてい、それならば手に神楽鈴を振りながら舞ったと考えるからだ。神楽鈴は、能の演目の最高位である「翁」において用いられるが、振鈴によって神の降臨を仰ぐのである。一般神社で巫女によって舞われる神楽においても用いられている。　私は、山野草「二人静」はその姿形に単に白拍子静御前の姿を重ねたのみならず、白拍子の起源の巫女の神楽鈴の形象を重ねていると考える。この植物名を思いついた人の詩情と一つの形象（この場合は花の形）が発する多様なイメージを「静御前」一つに集約した教養に、私は感じ入るのだ。　ところで、すでにすっかり散ってしまった木瓜（ボケ）だが、やはり今朝、たった一輪だけ返り咲いていた。白拍子の緋袴のような、その緋色の花がぽつりと一つ、二人静の方を向いて！　余録　午後2時10分、小品が完成した。またまた予定より5日早く終了した。   It's the Tango-no-sekku (Festival of May), but the sky is cloudy and hot and humid. Our family's annual irisbath can't buy iris for COVID-19 this time.   However, there is a lot of fun to do, and the wildflower "Futarishizuka (Chloranthus serratus Chloran-thus)" that my younger brother planted the other daybloomed this morning. Even though it is not the sameas a row of the two 5 number on May 5, the double-flowers flowers like a small white Kagura-bell are pretty.    "Futarishizuka (Japanese meaning is Two Lady SHIZUKA, and Shizuka means word guiet.)" is a well-known name, and good naming. The name is basedon the idea of Lady SHIZUKA as a Shirabyōshi (wan-dering dancer, but I think of Kagura suzu (Kagura- dance-bell) in the shape of the flower, as well as in white silk robe. The costumes and tools of the Japanese dance "Shizuka-gozen" or Kabuki dance "Futari Shizuka" are danced with agold headgear worn by nobles, and a white silk robe, a scarlet hakama (pleated skirt), a white sheath sword and a fun, and a bell drum in the end of dance.   I wonder when this model of the dance's cos-tumes was completed.   There are various theories about the origin ofShirabyōshi that I can think of Kagurin in theshape of  "Futarishizuka" flower, but Shirabyōshi is said that it was originally a shrine maiden dance. Because I think. Kagura-suzu (Kagurin)is used in "Okina", the highest performance ofNoh, but uses a bell to look for the coming ofGod. It is also used in Kagura danced by shrinemaidens at general shrines today.   I think that the wild flower "Futarishizuka" notonly overlaps the figure of Shirabyōshi  Shizukagozen in its shape, but also the shape of theKagura-suzu of the shrin maiden whose originis Shirabyōshi.    I am impressed by the poetic sense of theperson who came up with the name of thisplant and the culture that consolidates thevarious images produced by one form (inthis case, the shape of a flower) into onewhich is "Lady Shizuka".   By the way, the flower "Bokeh" that hasalready shattered completely, but again thismorning only one flower was blooming. 『ゴジラ』の着ぐるみ制作者・開米栄三氏追悼

　映画『ゴジラ』（1954年、東宝）で、特撮用のゴジラの着ぐるみを造形作家のデザインに基づいて制作した開米栄三（かいまいえいぞう）氏が亡くなられた（4月24日）。享年90。　私は公開年から1年後に『ゴジラ』を観ている。2作目の『ゴジラの逆襲』も観た。10歳の映画経験を懐かしく思い出しながら、開米栄三氏の御逝去を追悼します。　ちなみに、この着ぐるみに入りゴジラを演じたのは故中村春雄氏。中村氏は2017年8月に亡くなった。画面に顔が現われないスーツアクターとして、しかしゴジラ俳優として世界中のゴジラ映画ファンに知られている。 御両人のご冥福を祈ります。   In the movie "Godzila" (1954, Toho), Mr. Eizo Kaimai,who made Godzila costume for special effects based on the design of the modeling attist, died (April 24).90 years old.   I watched "Godzila" one year after the re;ease year.I also Watched the second film "Godzila's Counter-attack". In my memory of the 10-year-old movie ex-perience, I mourn the death of Mr. Eizo Kaimai.   By the way, it was the late Mr. Haruo Nakamura whoplayed Godzila in this costume. Nakamura died in August 2017. It is known by Godzila movie fans all over the world as a suit actor whose face does not appear on the screen, but as the Godzila actor.R.I.P for the two men.Tadami Yamada

小澤書店・長谷川郁夫氏追悼

　小澤書店（1972-2000）創業者で文芸編集者の長谷川郁夫氏が亡くなられた。享年72。　1998年11月に小澤書店が刊行した花輪莞爾著『悪夢五十一夜』のカヴァーは、私の絵を4点使用している。私の唯一の小澤書店刊行本だが、装丁デザインは社長だった長谷川氏である。　これにはこんな経緯があった。　著者花輪氏から拙作を提供してくれまいかと言われた。それまで私は同氏の著書数冊の装丁装画を手がけて来たが、いつもの新作執筆の依頼とはニュアンスがちがう口ぶりだった。訳を尋ねると、出版コストの問題があり、装画新作のギャランティーを支払えないらしい、と言った。しかし花輪氏は私の絵で装丁したいので、旧作で使用可能な絵があるなら是非貸してほしい。そして、装丁デザインは社長がやると言っている、と。　その話で私が想起したのは、装丁デザイナーという専門家にまかせないで、いわば自信たっぷりな素人が乗り出して実際に手がけて刊行すると、たいていは失敗するものだということだった。当人は失敗だとは思っていないだろうが、素人ができるようなことで専門家は飯を食っていないのである。　しかし、私は花輪氏に「承知しました」と応えた。というのは、私は日頃から小澤書店の刊本に好意を抱いていたからだ。装丁デザインも悪くなかった。少し色調が全般におとなしかったが、良く言えば品が良かったのだ。その装丁がすべて社長である長谷川氏の手になるものだったなら、私の絵をどんなふうに料理するか、俄然興味が湧いたのだった。本が売れるか売れないかは、私にとっては別の話で、この際関わりがないことだ。　私は4X5のポジフィルムで4点の絵を預けた。加えて、収録される51篇の短編小説のための51点の白黒のカット絵は、かつて花輪氏のために描いた旧作を流用してもらうことにし、さらに新作を数点描いた。　できあがって届いた本を見て、私は少しばかり驚いた。4点の絵がすべて使われていたのだ。表に2点、背に1点、裏に1点。裏に使用した絵は黒い紙にソラリゼーションの金刷りで扉にも使用していた。驚きながら愉快になった。「欲張りましたなーッ」と。　たった1冊の小澤書店刊行本だが、イラストレーターとしてはちょっと忘れられない本である。　長谷川郁夫氏の御逝去を追悼いたします。

志村けん氏の役の顔、すばらしい！

　NHKTVの連続ドラマ『エール』に初登場した故志村けん氏の、役に扮した写真を、朝日新聞ディジタル版が掲載していた。作曲家・山田耕筰がモデルの役なのだそうだ。志村けん氏の役の顔、メイキャップ、いいですねー。入り込んでいる。山田耕筰が入って来ている。このポートレート写真に存在感がある。作り物のウソっぽさが微塵もない。すばらしい！

映画美術家の馬場正男氏追悼

　映画美術家の馬場正男氏が23日に亡くなったという。享年92。　黒澤明監督『羅生門』（1950年、大映京都）や、日本映画初のイーストマンカラー作品である衣笠貞之助監督『地獄門』（1953年，大映）の映画セットを製作された。私は『羅生門』こそ後年になって観たが、もちろんどしゃ降りの雨に煙るあの巨大な羅生門のセット抜きにしては語れない映画だ。『地獄門』はほぼ公開年に近い小学生時代に観た。八総鉱山小学校の隔週の土曜日に映画館にかわる講堂兼体育館においてだ。そんな懐かしさを甦らせながら、馬場正男氏の御逝去を追悼します。   Movie set constructor Masao Banba died on the 23rd,aged ninety-two. He constracted the movie sets of "Rashōmon" (1950, Daiei) directed by Akira Kurosawa, and of "Jigokumon" (1953, Daiei) directed by Teinosuke Kinugasa, which was the first Eastman color work inJapan. I watched "Rashomon" in later years, but of couse it's a movie I can't talk about without the huge set of Rashōmon smoking in the heavy rain. I wached "Jigokumon" when I was in elementary school, which was almost the opening to the public year. It's at the auditorium and gymnasium, which replaced the cinema every other Saturday at the Yasōkōzan Elementary School.   While reviving such nostalgia, I mourn the death ofMasao Banba.Tadami Yamada
