OmniAb stock eased 2.3% to US$5.11 after the Q3 2026 report, a muted move for a biotech platform that has seen sharp swings lately. At first glance, the market is reacting to another quarterly loss, with Q3 net income in the red at US$15.7 million and basic earnings per share at a US$0.12 loss.
Stepping back to a longer lens gives a different picture. Revenue of US$4.0 million for the quarter comes in a year where management has raised full-year sales guidance and now expects year-end cash to be close to breakeven. That balance between ongoing losses and an improving cash outlook is what currently sets the tone for how investors may view OmniAb over the coming years.

Evaluating OmniAb's Partner Capital Bull Case
Supporters argue OmniAb can turn its partner engine and new platforms into tangible cash flow over time.
"The main factor that would need to go right is that OmniAb's partners continue to advance clinical programs and adopt newer offerings such as xPloration instruments and OmniTides so that contracted milestones, royalties and recurring revenues translate into cash inflows."
The latest quarter gives partial proof. YTD revenue reached US$31.8 million versus US$10.3 million a year earlier, helped by stronger milestones and early xPloration sales. Partner activity is visible in 433 active programs and a new Eli Lilly ion channel deal that begins contributing in Q4. Royalties are still small, so most of the bullish milestone and recurring revenue thesis is only just starting to be tested.

OmniAb Milestones Still Skewed To Future Hopes
Bearish investors worry that OmniAb's partner dependent model leaves a lot of promised value stuck on paper.
"Although OmniAb's partners are committing or spending an estimated US$2.4b to advance OmniAb-derived clinical programs, a higher than modeled rate of trial terminations or indication cuts within this large pool could mute the conversion of that external spend into milestones and future royalties, which would weigh on long term revenue and earnings quality."
The latest quarter leans toward that concern. Year-to-date revenue of US$31.8 million is driven mainly by milestones and early tools. Only four approved products currently support royalties, and the clinical pool carries US$340 million of remaining milestones. Management still frames royalties as a later 2028 story, so the large US$3b contracted milestone stack remains mostly untested.
