Charles Schwab is accelerating its push into artificial intelligence (AI) tools, bank-like services, and private-market access for registered investment advisers (RIAs). The strategy could deepen advisor relationships, but adoption costs, competition with Schwab’s own advisory business, and extended-hours trading expenses remain key investor considerations. SCHW was down 1.59% in the current regular session on October 31, 2026.

Schwab is best known for its retail brokerage offering but generates the lion’s share of its revenue and profits through its Charles Schwab Bank, which is largely funded by idle "sweep" cash in retail investor accounts. The firm is also a dominant player in Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) custody, with over 40% market share, and has recently pushed into wealth management with robo-advisory, direct indexing, and other managed-investment solutions.

  • Healthy trading volumes and net new assets

Charles Schwab is a leading provider of financial services, with over 40 million active brokerage accounts and over $13 trillion in client assets. The company offers wealth management, securities brokerage, banking, money management, and financial advisory services to individual investors and independent investment advisors.
