インターナショナルVIPクラブのWebサイトの中に、「You are a Very Important Person in God’s eye.」 【Bon appetit!】 キング牧師 "I Have a Dream," Says Martin Luther King, Jr. King was a leading figure in the American Civil Rights Movement in the 1950s and 60s. Now that an adult sheep has been cloned 技術的根拠は消え失せたように思える: there seems to be no technical reason クローン人間は作れない技術的根拠: technical reason why you could not do the same with people【完成英文】 Now that an adult sheep has been cloned, there seems to be no technical reason why you could not do the same with people. Le Cordon Bleu, or "The Blue Ribbon," is an international group of cooking schools teaching French cuisine. 【Bon appetit!】 Yoshiaki Murakami and another young entrepreneur, Takafumi Horie 日本のビジネス界を揺さぶろうとしました: tried to jostle Japan's business world 第2に、説明を加えていきます。 によって: by 敵対的買収を行ったり: engaging in hostile takeovers もっと多くの株主利益を要求する: demanding greater returns for shareholders【完成英文】 Yoshiaki Murakami and another young entrepreneur, Takafumi Horie, tried to jostle Japan's business world by engaging in hostile takeovers and demanding greater returns for shareholders. 【Bon appetit!】 John T. Scopes, a Tennessee biology teacher, was tried for violating the Butler Act, a 1925 state law banning the teaching of evolution. This so-called "Monkey Trial" became a flashpoint for debate among religious scholars and scientists as well as the general public. Scopes was found guilty and fined $100, though the verdict was later reversed. Despite the outcry(抗議)stemming from the case, the Butler Act was not repealed(廃止する)until 1967.

【Bon appetit!】 Hoops, originally made from stiff grasses, have always been popular toys. In ancient Greece, they were used for weight loss; in 14th century England, medics blamed heart attacks on recreational "hooping." The word "hula" was added in the early 18th century, when sailors visiting Hawaii noticed similarities between hula dancing and hooping. In 1957, a plastic hula hoop marketed by the Wham-O company sparked a fad. As the fad died out, Wham-O again struck gold with the release of their Frisbee.

A Stradivarius is any of the stringed instruments built by the Italian master violinmaker Antonio Stradivari. (例)His colleagues ostracized him after he criticized the company in public. 「AIDS victims often experience social ostracism and discrimination.」 【前回の単語】 8月3日の「ophthalmologist」(Popularly the ophthalmologist is called an oculist.) いかがでしたか? ophthalmologistの意味は、眼科医、 a doctor who treats eye diseases、という意味です。【Bon appetit!】 【Bon appetit!】 A review of 15 studies showed the risk of developing stomach cancer rose by 15 to 38 percent if consumption of processed meats increased by 30 grams per day. Researchers say that the risk may be connected to the fact that these meats are often salted or smoked and have nitrates(硝酸塩)added to them.

ザクロ The pomegranate(ザクロ)is the round, red fruit of the pomegranate tree, a deciduous(落葉生の)shrub(灌木)native to southwestern Asia but cultivated widely in tropical and subtropical areas. British Researchers found that people with lower socio-economic status appear to age faster. The researchers showed that poor people have shorter telomeres, the caps that prevent chromosomes(染色体)from fraying(すり減る、ぼろになる), which makes them biologically older than people of the same age in higher social groups. The shortness of the telomeres in a cell indicates the number of times the cell has divided and is associated with aging.
