Circumstances（境遇）2
As we can’t choose our circumstances， we are not allowed to have a preference for what we are worried about. Only god named fortune gives us it. Individual charm is formed not by where one exists (we are hard to choose that) but by how to live in one’s situation. 境遇を選ぶことができないように，何を悩むのかを選ぶことはできない．それを与えることができるのは運命とか神さまとかそういうものだけだ．個人の魅力というものはその人がどんな境遇でどこに存在しているのかということよりも（往々にして私たちはそれを自分で選ぶことはできない），自分の置かれた状況をいかに生きているかで決まるのだろう．

I met E at our favorite coffee shop to change the latest news about ourselves. “It is difficult for me to keep up my motivation to study. Though I know I’m a lucky to live in prosperity.” “Indeed some students study desperately earning their school and living expenses. From their point of view， you may be grown up in the lap of luxury. But only you live in your circumstances.” 久々にEといつもの喫茶店で近況報告をした．E「勉強するためのやる気を維持するというのは難しいね． 自分が恵まれた境遇だっていうのは分かるけど．」私「学費や生活費を自分で稼ぎながら 必死の思いで勉強している学生もいるからな． 多分，そういう人から見たら そういう悩みは贅沢に見えるんだろう． でも悩みというのは悩んでいるまさにその状況の中に いるのは本人だけだからね． その人の育ち，環境，全部組み合わさって 悩みができるからな」（続く）

Telling my fortune on the basis of my name（姓名判断2）
I have had my fortune told by a buyer of personal seals for free. The result turned out to be a disaster. He told me， “You will not enjoy physical health， so be careful for an internal disease. What’s more， you are unlucky in love. Get married in your later life， or you will be a divorcee.” I conveniently interpreted that he was a merchant with being intended to hassle me into buying “a lucky personal seal”. ちょっと前にデパートの片隅で無料ではんこ屋が開いている姓名判断で見てもらったら惨憺たる結果であった．「健康運，ありませんねえ．内臓の病気に気をつけて下さい． あと色難の相が出ています． 結婚は遅くなるかさもなくばバツイチになるでしょう」まるで天気予報でもしているかのような口ぶりである．相手は商人であるので，「しかしこんな運の無さもこのはんこを買うだけでばっちりです」という意図があるのだろうと都合よく解釈しておくことにする．

Giving out bills（ビラ配り）
A lot of advertising leaflets are handed on the street. For example， advertisements for English school， meet a mate telephone service， bar， and so on. Giving out bills is an unproductive task. Even if I managed to push it passers-by， few person read it. It is hard to distribute not thinking it is worth reading. Whenever people refuse to receive， I sigh involuntarily. Some company often recruit for distribute poster. But we occasionally have to give out bills by ourselves for unavoidable circumstances. So when I happy to be a pedestrian， I receive leaflets as often as possible.街では毎日たくさんのビラが配られている．英会話学校，出会い系ダイヤル，居酒屋などなどの宣伝である．しかしビラ配りというのは不毛な仕事である．たとえ何とかして通行人に押し付けたとしても，ほとんどの人はそれを読まないのだから．また自分でも読む価値があるか疑わしいチラシを配らなければならないのは辛いものだ．断られるたびに思わずため息が出てしまう．ビラ配りのバイトを募集する会社もあるが，時として我々はやむにやまれぬ事情でビラ配りをせねばならない時があるのだ．だから幸運にも配る側ではなく歩行者として街を歩いていた場合，思わずビラを受け取ってしまう．

"Night and fog"（『夜と霧』）
Speaking of V.E.Frankl， I have introduced his work， “…Trozdem Ja zum Leben sagen” in this web site. The most famous his writing is “Night and fog”. The book tells us what the holocaust by the Nazis was. Japanese have read the book interpreted by Shimoyama Tokuji since 1956. By the way the new version of that came into being in this October. Ikeda Kayoko who is well known her works “Sofies Verden” and “the Grimm fairy tales” translated it again. I heard it is easier to read. I’d like to read it. ビクトル・E・フランクルというと，私のページでも『それでも人生にイエスという』という作品を紹介したことがある．彼の最も有名な著作は『夜と霧』である．ナチスによるユダヤ人大虐殺を本人の強制収容所での生活と帰還を通して語ったものだ．日本では霜山徳爾による翻訳で1956年から読み継がれてきた．今月，その新版が出版された．『ソフィーの世界』や『グリム童話』などの翻訳で知られる池田香代子による新たな翻訳である．http://www.msz.co.jp/top/frankl2/index.html 既刊本よりも読みやすくなっているらしい．読んでみたい．

Surprise photographs（面白写真，びっくり写真）1
In printing developed films， there are some surprise (or funny) photographs. Let me introduce those pictures. One day， a man in his late twenties came to us and requested a film. According to those pictures， he had a firstborn baby. For， smile of him with his spouse and their baby overflowed from almost all pictures. Though the picture of wet diaper was surprised me. ^^; Parents cannot help doting their baby as things are. 現像されたフィルムをプリントしていると，たまにびっくりするような写真とか面白い写真がある．それを紹介したい．ある日，20代後半とおぼしき男性が同時プリントを依頼してきた．彼は初めての子供が生まれたらしい．というのは，全ての写真に彼と連れ合いの女性，赤ちゃんの笑顔が溢れていたからである．使用済みオムツの写真がばばーんと出てきたのには閉口したけれども．^^;子供が可愛くて，オムツまで可愛くて仕方ないというのはよくあることなのだろう．

Lupin the 3rd in English（英語でルパン3世）
I rent a DVD of “Lupin the 3rd in the castle Cagliostro”. There is an English version in it， so it is worth listing for improvement of my ability to hearing. I was bothered by a feeling of strangeness on its translation， but enjoyed it very much. First of all， all characters never call the hero “Lupin”. Instead of that， they call him “Wolf”. Did a translator think it was too difficult to explain his career? Or does they had to pay royalties on Maurice Leblanc， the author of origin of Lupin? 「ルパン3世・カリオストロの城」はあの宮崎駿の初監督長編映画である．この映画が中学生の頃から大好きで，ビデオで20回ほど見た挙句，それでも足りなくてカセットテープに録音して台詞を1つ聴くだけで次の台詞を思い浮かべられるほど擦り切れるまで聴いた．最近，レンタルショップでこの映画のDVDを借りてきた．英語バージョンが入っているのでリスニングの訓練になると思ったのである．もちろん？録音してバイトに行く車中で聴いている．翻訳に難ありというか，違和感があるのだが，それも面白い．最大の違和感は，主人公のルパンの名前が勝手に「ウルフ」に変えられていることである．そりゃあないだろう．五右衛門も富士子もクラリスもみんなそろって彼を「ウルフ」と呼ぶ．翻訳家が「ルパン3世は，自称ルパンの孫で…」と映画中で説明するのが難しいと判断したのか，それとも「ルパン」と言うと「怪盗ルパン」の原作者，モーリス・ルブランに印税を払わなくてはならなくなるからなのか，それは分からない．
