「ローマの休日」のスクリプトでお勉強(1) in toto
私の大好きな映画「ローマの休日」。今さらながらスクリプトでお勉強を始めました。映画のスクリプトを読むなんて、初めての経験です。英語のお勉強には「ローマの休日」は非常によい教材らしいし・・いろいろな勉強のやり方があると思いますが、まずは初心者なので・・・これまでに何度も見ているので、ストーリーはよくわかっています。11月初めに英語字幕で通しで見た。細かいところでわからないところはあるものの、こだわらず。。。11月の初めからネット上にある英文スクリプトでやり始めたのですが、膨大なページとなる。流れはわかっても細かいニュアンスがわからないもの、状況説明などでわからない単語はいっぱいある。せっかくやるなら時間はかかってもやはり「細かいところまでチェックしよう」ということでスクリプト本もゲット。ローマの休日 (cine‐script book) (単行本) 左ページに英文スクリプト、右に日本語訳が載っています。私はAmazonで中古本を買いました。タダのスクリプトがあるのに、買うのはもったいないかと思いましたが、買った値打ちは十分ありました。そして、Keikoさんに教えてもらった英辞郎のCD-ROM版PDICで「ローマの休日」オリジナル辞書も作ってみたいというまたも壮大な計画も少し狙う。試行錯誤の上、少しずつ動き出しています。ネイティブらしい表現、「ホホ～」私が英語で理解していたのとは随分違うところがあります。まぁ、気長にやっていきます。挫折しないように・・・今日やったのは、American News Serviceのボスとジョーの会話遅刻したジョーが「アン王女がローマでの記者会見を病気でキャンセルした」ことを知らずに、ジョーが嘘をでっち上げた場面です。ここで先日英会話上級でやったばかりの熟語in toto が登場しました。in toto=〈ラテン語〉全部で、全体として、そっくり、まとめて、完全に、全部【類】in all ; in the wholeHENNESSY:In view of the fact that Her Highness was taken violently ill at three o'clock this morning - put to bed with a high fever and has had all of her appointments for today cancelled in toto.JOE:(Stupefied)In...toto..?HENNESSY:Yes, Mr. Bradley - in toto.H:王女妃殿下が今日未明3時に突然ご発病し、高熱で床に伏されて今日のご予定をすべてキャンセルされたという事実から考えればな！J:（ボッーとして）す・・べて・・？H:そうだよ、ブラッドレー君ーすべて、だ。おお、3回も繰り返されているではないですか？？？ちなみによく聞いたことのある覚えのあるような言葉、in total 合計で、全体で、全部で、総計でちょっとニュアンスが違いますね。PDICにも入力、ローマの休日の辞書グループにはまだ２０個ほどしかエントリーされてませんが、今後どうなっていくか楽しみです。

旧友との旅☆X'masのTDS
11月17日（土）高校時代の友人たちと３人で、20数年ぶりに旅行しました。若いころは何度も一緒に旅した友人、今はみんな大学生の子供を持つ母となった私たち。子ども抜きとなれば、すぐに昔にタイムスリップ。はしゃぎまくり・・・私は10数年前より東京在住。シーは5回目。最近はシーばかり通っています。でもX'masイベントの時期に入るのは初めてです。彼女たちは、かなりの田舎から始発に乗り、新幹線に乗り継ぎやってきた。東京駅での待ち合わせに失敗。朝の貴重な時間を30分以上ロスして、シーでは大混雑に何も乗れないのでは？の、心配もしましたが、全然大丈夫。10時少し前にイン。インディ―ジョーンズ(FP11:10)、タワーオブテラー(FP20:40)、センターオブジアース(FP21:25)・海底2万マイル(FP19:40)の順番で取り、ストームライダー、マーメードラグーンシアターも30分ほど待って制覇してきました。お昼は混雑を恐れて、S.S.コロンビアダイニングのプライオリティシートを13時20分に予約（前々日TEL予約）少し行列になっていましたが、すぐに案内されて2時間もかけてゆっくりお食事。4000円の牛サーロインのコースをいただきました。パーク内をあっち行ったり、こっちに行ったり、動き回りましたが、素晴らしい景色に疲れもあまり感じることなく・・・ショーもFPの時間と重なることもなく、ブラヴィッシーモやキャンドルライト・リフレクションズ・花火も楽しみました。タワーオブテラーを怖がっていた友人たちは、あまりの楽しさに大興奮、10時少し前にFPで乗ったセンターオブジアースも「もう終わり？？？」私たち、かなりパワフルです！！！おみやげを買い、10時を過ぎて、出口を出て、リゾートラインの駅に来て、旅行バッグをパーク内のロッカーに入れたことを思い出し、再入場という大失敗もあり。ホテルグランドパレス泊最上階ラウンジのパスタランチ付 宿泊プラン 翌日も素晴らしいお天気。定番の浅草を案内した後、六本木ヒルズの展望台にも登りました。富士山はかすんで見えなかったものの、素晴らしい眺望を楽しみました。昔からの友達っていいですね～。次回は、のんびり温泉旅行かな？？？
