It was a historic day for the Village of Betalbatim today on 24th April 2016. The past sarpanchs including the first sarpanch Smt. Irene Barros were felicitated. Speaking on the occasion Smt. Irene Barros expressed her gratitude for being invited. She was ecstatic about the development the village saw since the time she held reigns of the panchayat. She reminded the elected panchs and the crowd at large to work as a united force towards the betterment of the village. The preset team of panch members lead by Sarpanch Smt Maria Pereira were also felicitated.A Senior panch Shri Inacio Marian Fernandes spoke about the history of the village panchayat. He informed the crowd how the comunidade allotted the land around the old panchayat ghar. The present panchayat Ghar was then constructed. The construction of its phase II will commence very soon the sabha was informed.
