今朝から報道が激しい日本女子フィギュアの記事を
取り上げたいと思います。

フィギュアスケート女子ショートプログラム（ＳＰ）は
２１日夜（日本時間２２日未明）です。
滑走順は、安藤美姫（愛知・中京大中京高）の１４番（第３グループ）をトップに、荒川静香（プリンスホテル）が２１番（第４グループ）、村主章枝（ａｖｅｘ）が２７番（第５グループ）。

日本のスケート選手ら練習に手ごたえ

TURIN, Italy (AP) Saturday's practice session for the Japanese women figure skaters looked more like their national championships.

Japan's Fumie Suguri skates during the training session in Turin ahead of the women's figure skating event.
村主章枝は女子フィギュア競技会に先立って、トリノでの合同練習でスケートをする。

Fumie Suguri, Miki Ando and Shizuka Arakawa did run-throughs worthy of competition. Suguri, the Japanese champion, did her program flawlessly, although she didn't attempt some of the tougher elements that her countrywomen tried.
村主章枝、安藤美姫、荒川静香は競技会さながらのリハーサルを行った。日本チャンピオン村主は、同郷の女性らが試みたより難しい技のいくつかは試みなかったものの、完璧に彼女の演目をこなした。

Ando, the only woman to land a quadruple jump in competition, tried two during the workout and made one. Arakawa at various times hit triple-triple combinations.
競技会で 4回転ジャンプを決めた唯一の女性である安藤は、この練習中2回挑戦し、1回成功させている。荒川はトリプルートリプルのコンビネーションを何度も成功させていた。

Toward the end of the session, Arakawa landed a rare triple toe loop-triple toe loop-triple loop combo medals contenders . Arakawa won the 2004 world championship, but she has been overshadowed by Suguri, Ando and Mao Asada, the 15-year-old Grand Prix final winner.
この合同練習の終わりに向けて、荒川はまれなトリプルトウループ、トリプルトウループ、トリプルループの連続技を決めた。3人の日本人はみな、メダルを狙える選手とみなされている。荒川は2004年ワールドチャンピオンシップで優勝しているが、村主、安藤、そして15歳のグランプリファイナル優勝者の浅田真央選手らによって影が薄くなっている

Asada is too young to compete at these games.
浅田選手は年齢が低すぎるためこれらの競技には参加できない。
