息子と晩酌～ヴェルデッキオ・ディ・カステリ・ディ・イエージ2023　Drinking with My Son: Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi 2023 (Umani Ronchi)（ウマニ・ロンキ）

もともとうきうきさんの福袋に入っていたものだ。
ヴェルデッキオはマルケ州を代表する白ワインのひとつ。アンフォラを模した、変わった刑場のボトルが目を引く。色調はグリーンがかった中程度のイエロー。グレープフルーツ、柑橘、ミネラルなどに加えてナッツのようなニュアンスもある。味わいは辛口でしっかりした酸とほどよいボディがあり、シーフードなどと併せて飲みやすい。ワイン単体でとか、このワインを主役を主体にというタイプではないが、トラットリアなどでさりげなく出てくると嬉しくなるような味わいだ。
我が家の子供二人も成人して、一緒に酒を飲めるようになった。上の娘はなめる程度にしか嗜まないが、息子は結構ワインにも興味をもっている様子なので、帰省したときにセラーのワインを一緒に飲むのがちょっとした楽しみだ。

This bottle was opened as a playful nod to my son’s childhood nickname, “Ieji,” while he was back home visiting. It originally came in Ukkiuki-san’s lucky bag.

Verdicchio is one of the signature white wines of the Marche region. The bottle immediately catches the eye with its unusual shape, modeled after an amphora. The wine itself shows a medium yellow with a hint of green. On the nose, there are notes of grapefruit, citrus, and mineral, with subtle hints of nuts. The palate is dry, with firm acidity and a moderate body, making it easy to enjoy with seafood. This is not a wine meant to be the sole star of the table, but it’s the kind of bottle that brings a quiet delight when served casually at a trattoria.

Both of our children are now adults and can enjoy drinks with us. Our daughter only sips occasionally, but our son seems quite interested in wine. Sharing a bottle from the cellar with him when he comes home has become a small but meaningful pleasure.
