The wine shows a medium ruby hue, and although it is from the young 2023 vintage, the color carries a faint suggestion of early aging. On the nose, it opens with a fragrant yet slightly artificial top note reminiscent of foundation. With a swirl, aromas of raspberry and orange peel emerge, accompanied by a hint of gunpowder, likely derived from the winemaking process. Although the blend is said to include Syrah and Merlot alongside Bailey A, the palate is, at its core, unmistakably Bailey A. It is medium-bodied, with softened acidity and very gentle tannins. For better or worse, the wine feels more like a showcase of skilled winemaking than of the grape’s inherent potential. While it may not offer great depth, its exceptionally smooth texture stands out. It seems easy to pair with a wide range of dishes, not only robust meat courses.
