This Thai restaurant opened just last year along Chazawa Street in Taishido. It isn’t entirely new, as it’s part of a small chain with locations in Shinbashi and Shibuya. With its open frontage, the interior is easily visible from the street and had often caught my eye, so I finally went in the other day with my wife, who was less than enthusiastic. As the name suggests, the place has the feel of a Thai street stall, and the food is fairly authentic, down-to-earth Thai cuisine—certainly not royal Thai food. The drinks, however, are quite expensive, which pushed the bill to around ¥5,000 per person, more than I had expected. That feels a bit on the bold side for Sangenjaya. My wife seemed satisfied, but with our daughter not fond of spicy food, the options for her would be limited, making a family return visit unlikely.
