鈍重だが個性は感じる〜ラ・キウーザ・バルベーラ・ルビコーネ17（カナルディ・モリーニ）

そこが見えないほど黒味がかった濃いルビー。香りはそれほど発散的でないものの、ブラックベリーやブラックチェリー、甘草、丁子などのスパイス、ユーカリ、それに木質的なニュアンスもある。飲んでみると、力強い果実味のアタック。酸も力強く、豊富なタンニンとあいまってヘビー級の酒質。それでいて味わいは縦よりも横に広がる感じで、後半からフィニッシュにかけては比較的あっさりしている。
前回飲んだものよりは明らかに印象がよいのは、ひょっとしてコンディションの違いかもしれない（前回のものはかなりコルクが染み出した跡があった）。
そんなわけでなかなかよいワインだと思うのだが、単体価格3.8Kというのはさすがに高すぎだろと思ってしまう。自分の舌感覚ではせいぜい２K後半からギリギリ３Kというところだ。私は福袋で購入したので、あまり単体の価格を意識していなかった。まあ、また福袋などで出会う機会があればウエルカムな銘柄なのかもしれない。

It shows a deep, almost blackish ruby hue, so dark that you can hardly see through it. The aromas are not especially expansive, but there are notes of blackberry and black cherry, along with licorice, clove-like spices, eucalyptus, and a woody nuance.

On the palate, it opens with a powerful burst of fruit. The acidity is robust, and together with the abundant tannins gives the wine a heavyweight structure. Even so, the flavors seem to spread more horizontally than vertically, and from the mid-palate through the finish it becomes relatively straightforward and somewhat restrained.

The impression is clearly better than the last bottle I had—perhaps due to a difference in condition (the previous one showed significant signs of cork seepage).

All in all, I think it is quite a good wine, but a stand-alone price of 3.8K strikes me as rather too high. To my palate, it feels worth at most the high-2K range, or barely 3K. Since I bought it as part of a lucky bag set, I wasn’t very conscious of its individual price. Still, if I were to come across it again in a similar set, it might well be a welcome label.
