Fermi Inc., operating as Fermi America, has named Rob L. Masson II as interim chief financial officer, bringing in a finance executive with public-company CFO, board, and capital strategy experience as the company works to move from startup-stage development toward a larger-scale enterprise model.

Masson most recently served as CFO of Noble Supply & Logistics and previously held senior finance roles at Latham Group, Hypertherm, Flowserve, and Raytheon Technologies. His background spans government contracting, technology, industrial services, and defense-related businesses - areas that overlap with Fermi’s emphasis on national security, AI infrastructure, and large-scale power development.

The appointment comes as Fermi continues to promote its “Fermi 2.0” strategy, which the company says is focused on adding senior talent, strengthening governance, and attracting strategic investors. The company’s flagship Project Matador campus is designed as a behind-the-meter power and compute platform that could combine natural gas generation, nuclear power, grid power, solar, and battery storage.

Fermi is positioning the project around one of the most important constraints in the AI buildout: access to reliable, large-scale electricity. Power availability has become a central issue for hyperscale data center developers, with utilities, gas developers, nuclear companies, and private-grid operators all competing to serve rising electricity demand from AI workloads.

The CFO appointment is therefore less about routine corporate reshuffling than about execution risk. Fermi’s stated ambitions - an 11-GW private grid and a major AI power campus - would require significant capital formation, investor confidence, and disciplined project finance. Bringing in an interim CFO with public-company and defense-sector experience signals that Fermi is trying to professionalize its financial leadership as it pursues a highly capital-intensive growth plan.
